I got this Strider used and the blade was in good shape the handles had a little wear. I never cared for the deep diamond texture Buck puts on them, it really sticks to your pocket when you try to pull it out. I took off all the black oxidized color off all the metal parts and sanded the grips flat. Much smoother draw, and all for $25.

Thanks guys, I don't have a fraction of the talent that is on this forum, I just have a few tools and chemicals. I usually end up making things worse, I wasn't worried if I ruined it and it came out ok for what I will use it for.

Nice job.

I have a SnG and a Buck Tarani. I sanded the grip on the Buck, it turned out more user friendly that the molded rasping Buck did. Overall, they may look similar, but those of us who have both know the immense differences in construction, handling, and use.

It's why we call a Buck a Buck, so as not to confuse the less aware. Had these not been authorized copies, I really doubt they would be spoken of in friendly terms.

I think you paid an honest price for it - I wish I had - and they sure get better the more they are modded toward actual Strider specs. I'd like to flatgrind the Tarani blade and lose the rougth texturing, among other things.
