25" Super Malla!

This custom khukuri was ordered sometime in early 2004... a well-known, good guy forumite ordered a 25" Malla with a wood handle, and Uncle Bill made it happen. In fact, Kumar made two of them- one in wood, one in horn. The wood handled sibling lives on the west coast in excellent hands.

The horn one went for a UBBB... and passed into my hands through a trade last week.

Ladies & gentlemen, step right up and see the mother of all Mallas.

When you draw this one from its sheath, it *just* keeps going... and going... til finally its drawn, you heft it, and say something like "Jumping geezs on a pogo stick! Holy ____! I thought a 20" AK was a knife!"

See the pix. Several HI products are shown for size comparison. Notice how big the Malla karda is...

And if you like HI khukuris, enjoy.

tx, cognitivefun!

This forum is about the khukuris...

This one is specially double-dog cool.

I just wanted to share, and give back to those in-the-know.

If that was the one Olpappy was trading off a while back, I looked at that one quite a bit. In the end, I just couldn't justify it, even with my own warped sensibilities.

I knew I should've sent an email. :) Good stuff, AA.

:- ) I've a 25" Sirupati that is in the same category...uber Karda and all. They *are* awesome once they reach maturity! :D

Congrats on a good 'un!

Yes, we raise them, scold them, try to do what's right, and hopefully, they grow up right; just not straight.

munk, LOL! You're giving Bruise a run for his money lately with the one liners.

Beautiful khuk Ad, gotta love those 25 inchers. Kumar did a wonderful job with that one.

Poor little YCS :(

Yup. The Super Malla won't even FIT in my big box of khuks. In fact the other khukuris are afraid of it. Possibly they envy its clean cho!

Satori- This did indeed come from olpappy, props & kudos to him. He shipped insured same day, and I'm totally happy with our deal. Somebody- probably him- polished the brass real well & got this sucker quite shiny.

Nasty- I decided, since people (sheeple) judge you when they see a khuk "You're carrying a sword!", in for a penny, in for a pound. "Yes, I am. Thanks for noticing. Check this out!" It's just a great experience exposing sheeple to HI products. I still remember showing my new 20" AK to the neighbors.... they were knocking over chairs getting away from it, but then passed it around til I had to ask to get it back.

They make a 25" & 30" Siru. I tried to get one and Bill told me he sold out of 'em during that sale. They make Kobras also that size. But a Malla... more better.

Great snag, AA:)
The 25"ers are a different breed. I have a 25" kobra. We all know kobras are a dainty willowy khuk (well as dainty as 5/16" can be;)), but this 25" monster could be used to jack up a 1/2 ton pick up truck. Clocking in at over 2 lbs it is fierce! Great pics:)! Thanks for sharing.

Jake

Thanks, Jake... this über Malla is 3/8 thick, same as 20" AK, and weighs 3-4 lbs. Don't have a good scale to be sure.

I am about done khukuri-sharking, and don't have a Kobra of any size... maybe I should reconsider.

I thought HIKV would go into remission when I had one of each... that I wanted... swords not included. Also, USA antler doesn't count- of course you have to have one of the same in r. chandan, saatistall, etc.

sandpapering away long into the night... is it sharp yet?
yes, and no.

 Sweet Mary, that's a beautiful khuk. I love the shape of the cho.

Ad, weight should be right around 38 ounces.

Regards,

Norm

The karda's bigger than a Sarge- almost kerambit length. Itself, a nice knife.

Weight & size on this one make a baldric a good idea- I just stuck my rapelling belt through it and it's not a prob. to carry over the shoulder. Or to strap to the back of the capt's chair, if I ever get my boat out again. :(

Thanks to everybody for comments. I'm lucky to have this one.
