Much like everyone else in here, the heart gets pounding a little faster when I read about a new knife that's coming our way. I was two steps from ordering a Satin Jack, then I start reading about the Zero Tolerance series of knives. I'm trying to piece together from different posts what's different about all of these knives. From what I can gather...
1. Almost all of Busse's knives are 1/4" because of the thickness of the stock. (I have a BME and NOE but never measured)
2. The Satin Jack falls under this category as well.

The Zero Tolerance series is a set of thinner knives at 3/16"? But, if the ZT Satin Jack is still 1/4", then what makes it any different than the regular SJ other than the ZT etching on it?

I'm just a little confused and want to make sure I know what the differences are before I purchase one type of SJ or another. I know there are far more educated people out there than I am to answer questions about Busse Knives. I'm hoping for a a little guidance!!

First off Welcome Garrett, Stick around and I'm sure you will get all of your questions answered.
From what I gather the ZT Satin Jack has a False Edge, is limited to 100 pieces(don't quote me on this though) and is laser etched with the Zero Tolerance name. The stock is 1/4". I believe the reason for any significant price difference is the limited number of knives produced. If you just want a good user the standard SJ will probably suffice. If you want a great looking limited edition with a flare for the variant go for the ZTSJ(thats a mouthful).
I really wasn't going to get the ZTSJ until I saw it had that false edge. It sure is a bueat

The Zero Tolerance Satin Jack has a ground top swedge (false edge) of about 2 inches. And it also has a more classic 2/3rds edge grind. all other Busse knive's bevel starts at the spine. The zero tolerance series' grind starts 1/3rd the way down from the spine. Giving it a little extra beef. I don't know if the zero tolerance BM, SH2, or NO all will be in 3/16ths. From what I gather those few made like that were from a special batch of INFI that was ground to 3/16ths. So they all may not be that way. But considering the extremely limited number of ZT blades it is possible. I think they are all limited to 100 pieces and will no longer be available after the 4th of July. So if you want one I suggest you jump on them. I think Jerry has made all he is going to make and they are running out fast. Glad I got my ZT satin jack when I did.

Ryu, is your ZTSJ 3/16" thick? If so, it's the only one I know of, and quite rare. The ZTSJ are ground out of 1/4" stock, unlike the ZT NO, SH, and BM, which are of 3/16" stock. There will be 100 ZTSJ made. The other ZT models will have 400 each made. They are excellent deals, IMHO.

Hey there!

I appreciate the responses. I have already been watching the threads that some of you mentioned. I'm really torqued up about this SJ project. It seems like it's the best combination of his whole line of knives. I've emailed them and left a phone message to see if there are any more left.

Let's keep our fingers crossed!!
