I am trying to find a diamond stone in this grit range for the kme. I need a in between stone from the 1500 grit to the 4m strop. Anyone know of any. The chosera stones are out as they require more maintenance and are quite expensive

Have any of you tried the kme lapping films. I would be looking at the 9 and 6 micron films

But it has to fit the kme sharpener. I want to try to maintain that perfect angle through the polishing phase

I mentioned in the thread I started that I realized with KME selling just the glass blanks one could have any grit he wanted by sandpaper with said blanks. 1" width sanding belts and low to medium adhesion spray adhesive would make it easy.

I have a variety of lapping films like the the KME 1, 0.5 and 0.1 micron diamond, 3 and 1 micron 3M diamond and 9 and 5 micron 3M AO films.
In my experience you can go straight from the KME 1500 to the 3 micron lapping films.

I would suggest automotive sandpaper in the 2000 + range.

That is another good suggestion. It is cheap and works very well on the KME glass blanks with thin Scotch removable double sided tape.

KME has a 3000 grit diamond stone available.

Huh...Ron has not said anything about that and I have not seen them on the website

Also, I have come up with a solution. I have 2 old dmt kme stones I can use as the blank and just cut strips of wet sand to it

You can get another kangaroo strop and Ken Schwartz has some 8micron CBN emulsion that's branded under Bark River.

I retract my statement. I have so many different systems, that I confuse the. With the KME, I go from the 1500 gold to a translucent Arkansas. M mistake.
