What models did Chris put the 25th ann guild medallion on.

Was it large or small Sebenzas? Or both?
Did Chris make these himself. Was it the older version? Any idea on their value?

Thanks

We made the Guild 25th Anniversary Sebenzas in both large and small sizes - 25 of each size. They were the old profile and had stainless Damascus blades. Chris was doing the vast majority of the work on the Sebenzas at that time.

Anne,

I still have a question on this topic for the following reasons.

1. It is my understanding that only 25 medallions stating, "Knifemaker's Guild 25 Years", were provided to each member. (Of course, if there were more than one member at CRK then perhaps you had more medallions.)

2. One dealer who had an order in place, at the right time

, received several of these knives with the medallion, and they were all the Small Sebenza.

3. I have twice seen the same Small Sebenza with the medallion. It does not have a Damascus blade. It is satin finish, and considering the time it was produced I would assume it is ATS-34.

For those who have not seen one, I'll mention that the medallion is silver in color, about 1/4" in diameter, and states approximately what I put in quotes above.

Any clarification would be appreciated.

Donald.

Since the Guild's 25th Anniversary was 5 years ago, (and, for my poor memory, that is aeons) we are a bit fuzzy about exactly how many and what knives we made. What we consider the major Anniversary knives were with Damascus blades and they had a stylized USA flag on the handle with the medal inlaid. We did make some knives that had plain handles, ATS 34 blades and the medallion inset into the handle - we we have no recollection or records of how many. By the by, we recall making one (a small Sebenza) for Bob Terzuola like that which we traded for one of his knives in similar configuration.

The Guild Anniversary medals were available for all Guild members to purchase and they were made in two sizes. There was no limit to how many each member could buy and, when the Guild had sold out of the medallions, there was a bit of trade between members - those who needed them bought from those who had extra.

The Damascus blade knives were not sold in sets specifically, although many were bought that way. It is quite possible that the dealer referred to got only small models.

Hope this helps!
Anne
