I got my bamboo cutter by Dhan this week and decided it needed a test run. I don't have any bamboo on my property so I went for the closest thing I could find. Here is the victim, a small Sabal Palm that needs to go:

And the aftermath, after 3 or 4 swings:

Works like a charm!

Holy heck, Dhan makes quite the blade doesn't he? Quickly becoming a favorite kami of mine. I'd love to see a dui chirra by him. Can you imagine?

Dhan makes an excellent working blade. I also have a 13" DBVUK that is very well made. He has a little bit to go in the fit & finish department to compete with the likes of Sher & Kumar, but his blades are nice and straight and the heat treat has been spot-on in my experience. His blades are every bit as good as my Keshar Lal blades. He has a bright future with HI for sure.

Have two different Gopte knives of his, one at 16" and an amazing 18 oz that looks kind of like a BAS, the thing is, it's nearly 3/8" thick! I also have another Gopte which is more Sirupate like at 17" and 16 OZ. It's about 1/4" thick but a scary weapon. Slices through anything I put it at. Fit and finish wasn't an issue on either, both came nearly mirror polish. My only real complaint would be that on the BAS like one the blade extends a little over the bolster on the right corner of the spine.

Is them oranges hanging in the back ground? Don't recollect I've ever seen an orange on a tree before. Guess I ain't been fur enough south.

Good work philllll, now you can plant some bamboo, harvest it daily for the shoots, and cut it with the bamboo cutter. or jus wreak havoc on the bush for fun

At first I thought they were tomatoes- then realized that tomatoes don't grow that high:)

It looks like a really good brush knife...Oh, but that would be a machete. It looks like it pruned that palm with ease.

Man that thing is ridonquelous! Looks like its right at home in the swamp. Guess your not worried about gators on the back porch now eh? I gotta get me one of them someday thats just sick:thumbup:

That's the only thing I've cut with it so far. Them's clementines in the background. I've got a couple other trees with oranges, one with tangerines, and one with grapefruits (yuck!)

That is awesome Philllll it looks like that blade did a great job on that palm tree. As far as the clementines, one of my favorite citrus. Right AFTER grapefruit LoL. Someday I hope to live in a place where I can grow my own like my parents used to in Az. once they retired.

Geat picture and post, thank you for sharing

I finished taking down the stump today with my keshar lal bamboo/bone cutter and harvested a bit of swamp cabbage from it, too!

its a grand ol blade, will have one of my own one day !, you should make a phillager model bamboo cutter

O.K., Philllll. For the masses of Forumites who live up in Corn Patch and are unfamiliar with the term Swamp Cabbages, please do expound upon just what they are, please. Are they samo-samo Skunk Cabbages, which we have in abundance?
