$270 + for Spyderco Caly Jr ZDP189!!!

I think it is because people are trying to grab the ZDP Calys to make sure they will have the full set once they get the ZDP Delica and Jess Horn. Sort of how the first movie in a series sees a jump in sales right before the sequel comes out, or is released on DVD.

Personally, I think the ZDP Caly will drop WAY down in price once Spyderco and other companies release a few more knives in ZDP189. Years from now, I think the ZDP Caly won't be worth more than it's original street price and will be totally forgotten by collectors (though not users).

I used to want a ZDP Caly (well, I still do), but will not pay over $100 for it. I have now decided to stop looking and just wait for the ZDP Delica. I will not jump through hoops to get one either. And if I miss out, oh well, because one of my next knives is going to be a William Henry Titan in ZDP no matter what.

What did it originally sell for, $59.95? I still the attraction is those blood red handles and not the normal Spyderco Henry Ford Model T looking knife (you can have any color you want as long as it is black).

i am a newbie about e-bay, could anybody explain me why some people are increasing prize against themself ?

I have got the Caly Jr ZDP189, i never thought it would become a collector.
It worse between 50-100 usd, i would'nt spend more for it !

I love my Calypso, Jr. It is a great little knife, with amazing cutting ability!!

yep, it's not bad, but i would never pay 270 usd for that.

If you like razor sharp blade, i found M-custa folders to be even sharper ...

2-3 people want this item really bad and do not care about how much is it. It is possible that some of them belong to our forum or Spyderco forum, where they read about this knife and want to own it. By the way, two of highest bidders are newbie to e-bay.
I saw several times things were sold on e-bay for more money than dealers ask.
R.

Yeah, it is fun to watch the bids on this model.

Had some foolish person contact me and said a site had them for $125. Only had to pay them $25 to get it. Jeeeesh!

I wonder how many of the winners pay, though. Piss-poor if they don't.

Shoulda bought one, but can't have all the wondrous toys in the world.

On eBay you place a maximum bid, the most you are willing to pay, this can be higher than your own current bid. When someone bids against your current bid but does not bid higher than your maximum bid the system will automatically put in your bid for the same amount to out bid that person. So when it shows one bidder upping the price on their own bid it means someone tried to outbid them but couldn't beat their max.

If you don't pay the Ebay/Paypal cops chase you down, tow your car, spray paint your front door, and ban you from all future auctions.

If only.

All of the sudden there are about 5 of these on Ebay. Everyone saw how much they were selling for and now they're being dumped. I would be surprised if this doesn't depress the price. Also the new ZDP Spydercos coming out may bring it down. So if you still want one, all hope may not be lost.

sure, if i was'nt that lazy.. i would sell mine straight !:D

thank stjames for the explanation:thumbup:
