I got my benchmade 275 Adamas today. I had to see it for myself. Man that is one fat handle. As a newbie I am trying all kinds of knives. Feels much better in the hand than my Contego which I love. Nuts to nutnfancy. I'm going to see for myself how this beast works as an edc.

The Adamas seems to be well loved by its owners. You are right; it is fat in the grip. Some folks will enjoy this. My preference is for a thinner grip of perhaps 0.450" instead of the advertised 0.730" but it is a fine, hard-use knife.

I like large folders, and the Adamas is large but I find it manageable for edc. I'm middle aged and find wearing tight clothes to be impractical if not uncomfortable. So it goes that attire plays a role in edc'ing the BM 275.

Basically like Acesn8s said, I love the knife but I can't edc it with every pair of pants I own because it is just too big. I can definitely edc it though most of the time.

I find that the 275 is a terrible EDC knife in jeans, slacks, and other casual pants due to its absurdly thick handle and weight. However, for outdoor and utility use, the 275 excels because the thick handle lends it great comfort for extended cutting, and tremendous strength.

I disagree. My Adamas was just fine in jeans. Sometimes I forgot it was even there.

OP, the Adamas is a damned fine folder. I wish I had gotten rid of mine.

The Adamas is my favorite EDC (see screen name). It's a great knife, and aside from the D2 steel, it is as close to the perfect folder that I have ever gotten. I have found that if fits well in jeans and pants due to the low-riding clip, and creates about the same size "bulge" as a smartphone. The only downside of the Adamas is that it will scare the sheeple/liberals if you end up using it in public. Good luck with your new 275, I hope you like it as much as I like mine.

I wouldn't call the Adamas an EDC knife, because as some folks have already pointed out, it doesn't carry well in some types of pants. I use mine often, when I wear cargo pants or something like that. It takes up a good chunk of pocket space, but it does carry nicely considering its size. Out of my big thick folders, it's the one I use the most.

In my opinion, the size and weight is well worth it. It's a pleasure to use for long periods of time and, at least mine, is super smooth. D2 is a very nice steel for a blade this size, I sharpened mine to a slightly more accute angle than the factory one, and it cuts really well.

My usual EDC folders tend to be lightweight, flat ground knives. Something like Spyderco Lum Chinese. I bought the Adamas on a whim and was very pleasantly surprised by how often I use it.

The Adamas carries fine for me when wearing jeans. How big is your smart phone? The phone in the pocket is less comfortable for me than the Adamas. This knife works well for me and well worth the pocket space if you don't mind the weight. This knife is an awesome specimen that gives me the feeling that I have the bases covered. Good edc and value for my needs. The ergos are great for a knife that I consider the benchmark standard for a hard use production folder.

great knife, sometimes a bit much for me though, especially if im in town all day around people. I really want to be able to feel comfortable in using my knife without others eyes drawn to close.

 So are you implying liberals and sheeple are the same or that liberals are the only people who react unfavorably to a 4 inch tactical blade being deployed in public? I'm pretty sure that ones political affiliation has little to nothing to do with their reaction.

This is how you say it tactfully:

I carry my smart phone in my back pocket, which I rarely do with a knife, and would never do with a knife as thick as the Adamas. I wear reasonably fitted jeans, and the Adamas is just wide enough to create a noticeable bulge in the pocket. It is also heavy enough for me to notice. However, I rarely have the need for such a beast of a folder, especially for EDC tasks, and am used to carrying 3.5 oz - 4.5 oz folders.

Pound-for-pound, I prefer the Benchmade 710 over the Adamas. It has a longer blade and strong enough lock to handle virtually any task.

Regardless, the Adamas is the best "hard use" folder on the market today IMO, and surpasses other competitors priced twice as high.

Hadn't...

Now I see how you got that post count so fast.

On the topic of the Adamas, when I held one I felt it was a bit wide in the handle. Everything else I enjoyed. I have a combo blade Contego rightnow, and I have to say that while I enjoy the 810 blade and width more, I prefer the Adamas ergonomically.

Adamas is one helluva knife.
I got sick of it being too long for my pockets with the clip and just took it off and carry it in my back pocket.
I did a review on it too, check it out sometime. Lots of pictures in it.

I love mine, one of the best BIG folders I have, but I have to admit, only time I EDC it, is when I an wearing one of my CCW style vests, in a pocket on it. It just doesn't ride well in a pants pocket for me.

I agree that the Adamas is a serious piece of culery. I have no problems carrying mine as most of the pants I wear are cargo styled, or loose fitting jeans, read as fat ass jeans! I like everything about mine, have the black on black model. Everything about it has been upsized, yet it is one of the best buys Benchmade offers. Though it has not seen much carry since my ZT0600 came back in July, it is still a favorite and one I plan on keeping.
