Just picked this up, looks to be in great shape. Just curious, can anyone tell if it's a version 3, or 4?

Are the inlay rivets approximately 1/8” in diameter?

I'd guess V4 then.

Very nice.

Where did you "pick it up?"

Congrats.....that's nice, and the 112s seem to be getting more and more popular lately.

:)

I have smaller hands, and I prefer the more pronounced 'guard' of the 112. I just have to pick up 1973 eventually!

This one looks to be a late 70's, 78-79 (maybe 77) . Did you obtain a sheath with it or the box ? Good find . DM

Couple close ups, and a picture of the sheath. Blade does look full, and convex?
Nice and sharp tho! It has some small dings in the brass, I wonder if Buck could mint it out?

One fine knife!

Everything looks right with it.

Buck can make it look all shiny and beautiful for $6.95 if you send it to them. They even send it back to you at their own expense.

Details on the Buck Website (link at top of page). If you call and talk to the nice folks in customer service they can give you special instructions and an idea of how long it will take to work their magic.

Address it to "BKI." Not a good idea to give a clue that it might be a knife inside.

Congrats on your fine acquisition.

I will do that, thanks! Also, the opening is a bit stiff, it looks like the frame pinches a bit, and the scales are starting to separate right by where the tip rests when closed.

If there are other than cosmetic issues it could get more complicated.

Best to check with Joe Houser (moderator in red at bottom of first page here) if it seems that warranty work will have to be done.

It's possible that if the knife has been worked on by someone other than factory personnel that the warranty could be void.

It doesn't look like it, but it doesn't hurt to check.

Send Joe a note and have him take a look at your pics here and see what he thinks about what they can or cannot do to that knife.

He always helps out if he possibly can......I'm just being a little overcautious.

Buck can do a lot with fixing up a knife. Yours is in real good shape and will clean up well. As far as stiff opening it could be jus a cleaning and lube. If you send it in to Buck list all your concerns so they know what you want fixed.

The sheath is for a 111 but the 112 seems to fit well. For some reason it has 449 on the front and 111 on the back.

The gap between the slab and frame could easily be fixed with epoxy and a vise . Or send it to Buck . DM
