Well, I finished up a kiridashi I made for my Dad for father's day this weekend. 1080 Steel 1/8" stock. I hope it performs. The steel got a little darker than I wanted while tempering. My oven sucks. It's very inconsistent, even using a pan of sand to try to keep things even. Dad will definitely put this thing through it's paces so we'll see how it holds up. In it's current state, it's pretty darned sharp. Just hope it holds the edge. The good thing is that it should be easy to keep sharp.
