I returned the first plain edged s35vn cold steel black talon II I received from Knifecenter.com because the blade was so far off center it was rubbing the interior of the g-10 Scales. They were super helpful and sent me a checked replacement a few weeks later but sadly it’s almost as bad as the first one. Is this a known issue with the black talons? They’re out of stock most places and I love the knife, has anyone fixed this with adjustments? I have 5 other cs folders and they’re all close to perfectly centered. Any thoughts appreciated.

Might be just as simple as an improperly tightened pivot screw. I have a CS Immortal that was not quite centered. A bit of adjustment on the pivot brought it right in line.

my one was perfect and still is... to be fair it's never had "hard" use apart from trying to cut my fingers off everytime I play with it! ;) been opened hundreds of time....

I've received a few Cold Steel folders with off-center blades, but a slight adjustment to the pivot screw fixed them. The pivots came too tight.

My guess is that the assemblers in the factory are just tightening the pivots to make them tight, possibly to avoid having the knives defined as "gravity" knives for legal purposes. And that they are less concerned with making sure the blades are perfectly centered.

That's a theory anyways.

I hope your issue is as simple as a pivot screw adjustment.

Never had any centering problems , out of box , on a Cold Steel Tri-ad lock . And I have a LOT of them .

I did have to adjust a few that I used as throwing knives , but the fix was easy . Just adjust the pivot tension and use Loktite or similar product to hold it .

This type lock is NOT prone to such problems , in my experience .

I suppose it could be some washer problem , although I've never had one with Cold Steel . Should still be easy to fix , but you shouldn't have to repair a brand new knife .

Hope you can resolve the problem , because it's a great knife , IMO .

I have well over a dozen CS folders, I have 2 Black Talons, both are good. Immortal was a little off but just needed the pivot screw adjusted and I loctite'd it, same on one of the Code 4s. I always loctite thumb plate screws too.

Thanks everyone for your help! My torx set should be here today - I’ll let you know. I really love this knife and hope they keep making them exactly the same - they seem to be out of stock most places... I have 9 cold steels as well and have never had an issue with centering, certainly not twice in a row on the same model.

I've had two and the blades on both were centered.
