What a beast!

The Persian showed up at the door yesturday. I've been really curious about it and figured I would go for it. It is so big and single purpose, I was close to flipping it, then I did some mellow drills with it and thought "wow!". This is just a nasty and dangerous blade. Doubt I'll ever carry it, but do think I'll be practicing with it on a regular basis.

I'll tell you, the bug has bit! I'm selling a couple things now and will either pick up a Horseman or CQC 7 AW.

Actually, while folks are reading...help a noobie out please. I sharpen my folders on my sharpmaker- what angle should I go for with my Emersons?

I rarely carry my Persian, because of the gigantic sweep in the handle, but I can't bring myself to sell it because I know I'd regret it. It's one of the few knives I own that I don't use, and keep just for the sake of having one.

Horseman or CQC 7 AW.

Both are excellent, utilitarian EDC blades with a definite hint of tacticool.

Trying to "make do" with a Sharpmaker will be very difficult unless the angles match up perfectly with your blade, which I don't think it will.

Learn to sharpen free hand. Sharpening Emersons is as easy as it gets, between the modified chisel V grind and the softer steel, they're easy to get scary sharp. I got a medium and fine ceramic flat stone from Spyderco, and finish using a leather strop loaded with black and green compound.

The fever is going to get to get worse. I bought a Tiger, mini commander and a Mini 7AW all in a week

Carry that P-Tac, they are great carry knives.

Oh my OM...it's BIG! I carry a Military at times and the Persian makes it look like a girly man knife. ;)

I used to do pretty well free hand until I turned my Para 2 into a butter knife for the second time. Went to guided system since then. But, I'll give it a try again!

lol!

Where are you in CT Dooku? I'm 10 minutes from Hartford.
