All,
I am almmost to the point of saving up for a new (to me) emerson. The purpose will be pretty much EDC. Currently I have a Persian, but after a few months, I find it is just too large.

Here is were i am as far as choices..
Psark,
combat karambit
Mini commander
(mini)A100

Any strong thoughts? I really like the karambit, but it is not really a do everything type. Also a consideration, is that some of the cities near me have a 3" blade restriction..

Thanks!!!

I think that the Commander has the best overall blade (been using one since1998). Get the mini-Commander, the next best, in my opinion for you, would be a Horseman.

Both blades are longer than 3". I don't like the non-ergonomic A-100 handle everything is in-line and not as ergo friendly.

I EDC my Persian, but I can understand if you consider it a bit larger than you want to carry.
I'd suggest a Mini-Commander or a Mini-15. My Mini-Com feels to be about half the Persian's size when I first switch from one to the other, but it is quite enough knife for most tasks.
If you'd like a great all around knife that is just a bit smaller than the Persian I recommend the full sized CQC15. Mine is my do everything, go to knife. Great ergos.
If you need to worry about the 3 inch limit on blades where you are you're pretty much looking at just the CQC14 "Snubby". 2.7 inch blade with a full sized handle.
Good you're sticking with Emerson though...any choice is bound to be a good one.

Check out the Mini 7 if you're faced with the annoying 3" problem.

Heh, that sounds funny.

Mini Commander. Until I get my CQC 10 SFS tomorrow (I hope) the Mini has been my favorite Emerson.

From your list, Mini A-100, then Mini Com. I own a full size A-100 and it is my favorite Emerson (it only just edges out the others though). The neutral handle shape and spear point blade are what make it shine over and above my others (7B's, Horseman and Mini Com).

Mini Com is also a great knife too, but I will second the Horseman as well and say it makes a slightly better edc knife than my Mini Com.

You really can't go wrong with any of them, but if you are truly concerned about size, stick with the Mini A-100.

Hard choices indeed...especially when they're all great knives. The choice will be what size do you feel comfortable with in your hand and pocket. If you can get somplace where they're sold and "handle" them you'll.......you'll .......probably buy three or four.:D
