I picked up one of these today and have to say, this is the finest folding utility knife I have ever seen.

1-toolless blade change.
2-solid lock up, PB washers and one of the best blade detents I ever felt.
3- uses a opening disk (which is the blade lock) and also keeps pressure on the blade so it doesn't rattle.
4-uses a LOW ride right hand tip-down clip. Even has a lanyard hole.

I did address some rough edges, but this thing is awesome!
Anyone else find these yet?

Are you refering to the SK2 model, I assume you are. Is it a liner lock?

Sorry it took so long to back. Yes it is a liner. It looks to be about 1/3 the width of the "blade". locks up very nice and passes the spine whack tests. This thing is a tank. (as compared to other models of S.K.s and other brands)

I also jumped the gun on the washers. The one on the lock side is PB and nylon on the opposite. (still a tank)

Pics/Link?

I've got a couple of the originals, this sounds much better.

EDIT- Nevermind. www.superknife.com

Looks nice. I'll wait until the price comes down some.

I tell you, if you handle this thing, you'll think 17.00 is a bargain.
(did you see the Gerber fast draw come up at the end? Weard:confused: )

For as much as I actually use my other utility blades, the $17 just isn't worth it. I've got enough beater knives as it is.

Besides, I carry my utility blades when I'm doing work outside or something, and NEED a knife. I have no use for a deep carry pocket clip on a utility bladed knife.

I like the Superknife Edge. Same knife as the regular Superknife but with a tool less blade change. They usually go for $10-$11.

That's cool.:) It's what so great about knives in general, what works for you may not work for me.

I've been using a Sheffield I got from Lowes ~9.00 and has worked fine for me. But you know that "I need a new knife" thing.... I just wanted to let all know of the nice beefy well thought out design of this knife.

Thanks for the reply.

Isn't that why we're all here?

I usually rotate my EDC every 3-6 months or so. Most recently it's a BM Mini Griptilian, which I keep saying is staying for good. I say that about most new knives, however.... so we'll see what happens.

Thanxalot, guys! I NEEDED something else to spend money on ...

BTW WTF is Gerber doing there anyway? A "marketing partner"? :barf:

That's the same way I feel about my Mini-Grip. I just can't pull it out of my rotation. I always come back to my 1st. and you know what they say, "you always remember your 1st.":D

I've got the deep pocket clip from a BM Mini-Pika on mine... It's so nice. I'm working on having it waved here soon (its the 555, with the oval opening hole). It just might be "perfect" after that. (As if there is ever a perfect knife on this forum...)

I shouldn't dump on Gerber like that. I've gotten good knives from them over the years, and that one looks good and is credited to a top designer. It just looks strange, with their drop from former glory, to see them piggy-back on what is, after all, a minor player in the industry.

Anyway, I looked around for someone to buy the SK2 and a few other items from. The few places I found at first all charged more than Superknife themselves, so ... I'll buy it from the manufacturer and let you all know what I think of them when they get here.

My 555 has been through a lot of changes. A bought a 707 but never warmed up to it, so I took the 707 blade out and put it in my Mini-Grip handle. **This took a great deal of machine work (I can go into details if anyone is interested) but it worked out in the end. I recieved a nasty cut working out the kinks on the Axis lock. It's all good! BTW The perfect knife is the NEXT one comming out! (or one you havent seen yet!)

I would really appreicate your evaluation of this tool. (just to know i'm not crazy:) )
In fact, I looking forward to your comments!

I'm currently looking for someone to wave my 555 for me... is that something you're willing/able to do? (For some monetary compensation of course...)

Email me if you're interested. tfineis @ gmail.com

I've got a Sheffield also. The Sheffield seems to be the more solid knife compared to the Superknife. But with solidness comes bulk and weight. I prefer the Superknife due to ease of one hand opening and closing. Yes, you can one hand a Sheffield but the Superknife is many times easier. The Sheffield lockback is a lot more secure than the Superknife liner lock but I don't find myself ever exerting extreme pressure on a folding box cutter. For me, the Superknife has a higher WOW factor so it gets carried all the time while the Sheffield is my loaner knife. The Superknife is also capable of using the extra thick contractor blades (.035") but they won't fit in the Sheffield.

I feel the exact same way about the locks. I don't know if I got lucky with the lock-up on this SK2 but it is solid. This is going to be a bulky knife, but the quality outweights it's heaft. I say this because I like the "folding utility blade" idea but have been disapointed with the quality of said offerings until now. (this knife seems to take all width sizes and on the thin ones, (I use Lenox Gold) there is tension on the blade so as to keep it from rattling)
