I ordered a benchmade 940 and it isn't supposed to get here until the 3rd-7th of november, they haven't even shipped it yet.every morning I almost cancel the order because I never paid that much money for a knife before(178)plus shipping.I keep debating with my self whether to just wait until it gets here and see it or to stop it now before it ships.I think I will wait, which will be very hard.I hope I am doing the right thing.

Wait. A lot of us have had second thoughts once we hit the "Submit Order" button. I really thought twice after my first purchase over $150 (that could buy a lot of food, pair of sneakers, blah blah blah). If it's money you couldn't afford to part with or your kids won't get a birthday present because of it, then yeah, cancel. But otherwise sit back, let the anticipation (not anxiety) build, and then enjoy a great knife once you get it. I doubt you will regret it. If you do, you can always sell it.

As jhawk said, if it isn't going to make you miss a payment or slight your family wait it out. It is a great knife and I think you will be very happy once it is here.
Be safe, Frank.

It was a stretch,I just hated to part with that muchmoney for a knife.I have been buying 30-50 dollar knives.

As long as your expectations are in line, you won't be disappointed. If you're expecting choirs of angels when you first hold it, you might be disappointed. If you're expecting a solid knife whose quality is noticeably higher than a $30-35 knife, then you will be quite pleased.

Once you get past your first (higher priced) order, you will be fine.
I remember my first, it was if I had done something wrong. $200.00 and it's just..out there somewhere...
Well, they show up and you immediately start looking at others because hey, that went okay.:)
Cheers

The 940 has been my near perfect folder until I got the 940-1, which now is my near perfect folder. I think you'll be pleased.

$40+ Benchmades and no regrets. Chances are you're doing the right thing.

The 940 was my first $150 plus knife... Next came a $150 custom fixed...next came $158 Rodent Solution..now I have a $180 Ratmandu on order and a $340 BM 940-1 in my pocket as I type.
I know I paid "too much" for the 940-1, but it's one of my "Grail" knives and I got a pretty good example compared to some of the stories I've heard. I was pleased with all these purchases and if I only kept three knives it would be the three most expensive. Hope my experience can help you somehow.

Wait until you start eyeballing customs and midtechs that range in the $500+ area.

The 940 is terrific. I bet you will see and feel the difference immediately and then ask yourself why you didn't do it sooner.

Wait it out. If you don't feel it when it arrives, you can sell it, or possibly return it and exchange it for a less expensive knife...

I've found over the years that any time I make a purchase out of my normal $$$ zone, or budget, I always have remorse... For awhile :D
