After reading Phil's post about ebay and the 2OT I realized that I have never seen one. I went to ebay but couldn't find anything, I even checked the completed items. I also did a google search which turned up nothing. Does anyone have a picture they can post?

Thanks

If you talk about the 2-OT then you must also talk about the 8-OT two of the first offerings in the OT line but unlike all other ot models ( until nearly the end of Schrade production ) These were made in bone. The Old Timer marking is on the bottom bolster of the 2-OT. I have included the pics from Sgt ( book 1 ) which shows 2 variations of this pattern. I also included his pic of the slick bone 8-OT. I also included some pics of my knives, a slick bone 8-OT, three 2-OT knives one of which is in jigged bone. I wondered about this knife when I got it it was some years ago however it was verified that a few were made by Schrade ( Walden ) this way. Like I said you can find a lot of unusual stuff from Schrade. I also included a knife made under Schrade Cut ( pre 46 approx ) which was the forerunner of the 2-OT its bottom bolster reads just SCHRADE. Somewhere I have the original brochure for these knives However after a vain attempt in the heat, after 6 hours completing the A Frame I started last week ( another thread ) I just healed up enough to give it a second try 95 percent done now. I cannot locate the damn brochure in fact to get at these knives I had to move around 6 displays and a vitrine. Plus the pics are lousy. So on that note it is almost nap time. LT

Phil perhapes I missed something the 8-OT I posted is a Schrade Walden it is as rare or rarer than the 2-OT. It is in smooth real bone. These are the only original Schrade Walden OT models produced originally in real bone. The only Ulster models produced under OT were the ones issued with the Prince Albert tobacco can offer they were a barlow, utility 4 blade model , and a 58-OT and that was in sawcut delrin. The other knife in the auction was a Craftsman ( produced for Sears by Schrade ) So was up???? LT confused

I have a price list from 1959 which was the only place I had seen the 2OT in print until LT put up his article. It was dealer priced at $27.00 per doz.
No picture just a price and no other OT's are in the list.
Below is a picture of my 2OT and 3 that LT published for us before.

The predessor to the 2OT appears in the Schrade reprint as a 2202 & 2203 3/4

Profile the buyer guys. He bought another used 2OT cheap, a 125OT for two bills and change, a 123OT for a c-note, RCMP doggie postcards, and hard rock cafe pins. Oh, and a 51OT for about 60 with sheath. You are trying to make too much sense of this guy's spending habits. BTW, he sold ONE 100th anniversary lapel pin for about $5.

Rats. LT is correct and I mis-wrote. I meant to write that the Ulster Old timer, which I think should be a valued collectible, is still easy to find and cheap. That is the number 58OT. My bad, sorry for the confusion.

Phil

Ps... great photos of great knives, LT!

Frankly I wish the buyer well, he paid for what he got. I wish Phil would have gotten it but truthfully he offered more than I would have. Chances are he will get one down the road Of course I have a couple so I am not chasing as hard as some other folks. Buyers spend big bucks for things sometimes not related perhapes this fellows dad had had one or had lost one and he wanted to replace it who knows. But when sales like this happen they correctly change the real values of the rare and irreplacable artifacts this is true enhancment of value and not the temporary inflation experienced a few months ago by the uninformed gemeral dabbling public. Now lets talk about the 8-OT in bone. These babys are tough. As you can see I have one. I thought I had cornered a second a while back since most sellers do not normally recognize them. I do not often get fooled but a well worn delrin version in a picture can fool you especially if the dye job on the delrin was off. Asking questions is an alternative but lets look at it like you were in a poker game if the fellow knew what he had he would kick the pot. If not you should be smart enough to recognise what you are dealing with. If you ask a question then you give up both advantages and in my case being a dope, if the owner did follow my instructions to check it and it turned out to be a rare one and he then asked my opinion what it was worth I would be honor bound to tell him the truth. ( I mean that ) So that being the case. I trusted to my gut ( of course the price for a used regular 8-OT was not big deal ) . That damn knife was so well worn and looked so good I still was not sure when I got it and had to get another opinion. Yup those 8-OT versions in bone are a catch. I kept that knife somewhere ( in one of them pile buckets ) everytime it shows up I have to look at it twice. LT PS Most people do not know this knife or the 2-OT were ever made. I do not know if either of these were ever reissued. However ( to my knowledge) they were only made under the Schrade Walden tang. PPS. For Larry there were several models which were used as basic pattern for the 2-OT the variations were small in this case this model has a spear blade and coco bolo handles. It was the one I grabbed. There were the forerunners of what after Schrade Cut, were combined into what was to become the 2-OT. Still I am sure the basic pattern ect are obvious.
