Well after the great intro Nick Wheeler gave me today I went down to the shop and finished up this small hunter. It has a wrought iron skull cracker butt cap, wrought iron guard, my 2X-Dream mosaic damascus and a nice piece of sanbar stag my friend Chuck from AKS gave me. Blade is 4-5/8", OAL is 10-1/4"- these are the first pics with my new camera so bear with me. Thanks for looking.

I really like that knife. You should start to get some images of knves up on your website.

Have you made, or are you planning on making any bowies?

Good look'n stuff buddy!

Keith... not only has Dave made them, he won Best Bowie at the last MKA show!

Very cool. Did you file the grooves into the guard and buttcap or forge them?

Boy, does someone ever have to update the MKA website. I went to check out whether they had any info on the 2007 best bowie, and the latest info I could find was the dates for the 2001 show.

great blade....the handle needs to be shorter or blade longer, IMO, and the sweep on the guard is about 5-10 degrees too far back.

Welcome to the Forums....ask Nick about me if you have any questions, I will be in Seattle this year, and will visit with you if you have time.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I used the edge of the platen very carefully to put in the grooves. To bring out a nice grain in wrought iron, I sand to 400 then put it back it the fire to raise the grain. I might do this several times until I get the look I want.
