I’ll reference this thread; https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/2x48-grinder.1540925/, for clarity (and not necropost).
I sold my 2x72 (bought by a FiF champion, heck of a nice young man who makes beautiful damascus billets), almost a year ago due to shop size constraints. I’ve missed the grinder but space here is at a premium. I ran across the thread referenced above and something this size would fit my shop very well.
It is hard to determine thicknesses and sizes by images so here’s the (first of many) questions.
Is there one thickness material I can use for everything, and is 6061 aluminum a good choice for this?
I don’t know if the OP is still around but would love to hear his thoughts on how this has worked out for him.
Thanks

Have you looked at @bjansen's plans? He built a 2x48 for leatherwork based on those plans, see this thread. I think the plans should be straightforward to adapt to the smaller version.

6061 aluminum will work fine, but you may need some 1/2" and some 3/4" material for different parts. Depending on the tools you have, it might be easiest to just get everything precut.

Had not seen that, looks like he did an excellent job of it, thanks for the link!
