Hello, I’m new here, and I apologize if I’m posting this in the wrong forum. I’ve been having tracking issues with my grinder. My belt is drifting to the left towards the frame so bad it’s rubbing. My drive wheel is crowned, and I put electric tape around it to try and help center it. It didn’t help. Any help and advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I make sure I have plenty of tension. Then my tracking wheel can be adjusted. If that doesn't work then I swap out the belt.

What kind of grinder you have ? Did you just made that grinder and problem start on first try or after some period of work on grinder ? Picture of grinder will help us to help you ;)

Hi Richard, I took all my wheels off, and the front of my frame apart. I squared everything up, and it’s perfect again. I’m probably gonna look into getting a better tension spring. Thank you for replying.

Hi Naltek, it’s a home made. It just started doing it. I took all the wheels off, and took apart part of the frame, and re-squared everything. It’s working perfectly now. Thanks for replying. I can’t figure out how to post a pic from my phone

Hey Eddie glad you got it working now. Paid members can post pictures through forum, non paying members have to use something like imgur to host the pictures.

Having everything square certainly helps, but tension can also be a huge factor, and typically, the more tension, the better.
The more tension you have, the better it will continue to track when you're only grinding on one edge of the belt. If the tension is too light, the belt will want to walk to the side you're putting pressure on while grinding.

Yep, when grinding the amount of tension really enters into the equation on tracking. For running with no load it really doesn't take much tension at all to see belt run straight. You might move the platen clear of belt, then spin belt by hand to see if it seems to track in center where you want it. BOTH forward and reverse. If it will track good spinning by hand in both forward and reverse, odds are it'll track at speed with motor running.
