A couple pics of my regular 3/16th's BAIII "LE", with a factory convex "zero" edge!!

That's a beauty! Was that a coated knife that you stripped, and then had the shop put on the zero edge?

I believe it is basically a convex edge grind. At first I thought it was full convex, i.e. from spine to edge, but in the pics above the primary grind (on the belly) looks flat ground.

My understanding is that a "zero edge" means that the edge grind blends smoothly into the primary grind leaving no discernable transition.

I found this quote from Jerry in another post:

"I define a "zero edge" as an edge that has been blended into the primary bevel of the blade and therefore has no definite, visible beginning. It is not simply a convex edge."

By that definition I guess a full-on chisel edge could be called a zero edge, as could a full flat grind from spine to edge, or a hollow primary grind with convex secondary. In other words, one can infer from the quote above that the "zero edge" isn't locked into a given grind style, as long as it flows smoothly.
