Recommendation? 3.5 - 4" full flat ground, slim when closed?

Have been carrying a BM 940 for some time now and really appreciate how slim it is from the back spacer to the spine of the blade when closed.

I am looking for something similar with a FFG blade. The Al Mar Eagle seems about ideal but the price for blade steel has me a bit concerned.

Spyderco makes a number of large FFG options and while I have owned a bunch, they are quite wide when closed. The Caly 3.5 seems like it may be an option but I have not seen any comparison pictures of them closed.

I guess my question would be, what's out there similar to an Al Mar Eagle for a better price and/or steel? I am not opposed to trying one, I just want to see my options before spending $200 on VG10. Seems a $60 Endura could do nearly the same, albeit a bit larger closed.

A folding paring knife is basically what I am after. My only requirements is it must lock and have a pocket clip.

Thanks for your time.

All I think when I read that was endura endura endura lol the endura 4 FFG is what you are looking for its very thin and when closed I find very slender. The shape and feel is a lot like the almar just with better ergos.

Maybe a mantra 2? M4 steel, slicey and doesn't have the raised thumb hole.

Not sure if it's 3.5 inches though.

I wasn't familiar with the Broken Skull. I like it overall but it seems to be just as wide closed as an Endura, and for similar options I will give my money to Spyderco over CS every day of the week. I'm not opposed to buying CS, but it would have to be a truly unique knife.

I own an endura and I agree it is a little bit wide in the pocket but it is such a good sclicer that I can live with that plus why settle for vg-10 when for $100 you can get zdp-189 and if the endura is just too big you can get the declia.

RAT is cheap and can be made wicked sharp. Lose it, no worries. Just throwing this out here.

Here are some pics from my review last year. The Broken Skull is thinner than the Endura in every way except the blade (better IMHO) and lighter too! The CTS-XHP is such a better steel it's not funny when compared to VG-10 in edge retention in my experience. It even beats out S30V on my Manix 2s and Para Military 2. The Skull is my everyday home carry. It's so thin that I often fall asleep in bed with it in the pocket of the basketball shorts.

P.S.- I love Spyderco too!
