Can anyone recommend a folder with about a 3.5" plain-edge Warncliff blade?

Thanks,

Mike

Most of the production wharcliffs I've seen are about 3 to 3.25 inches in length. CRKT makes a Grey Ghost verion with a wharncliff, as does Kershaw (Mini-Task). I don't know if you would consider the Kershaw/Onion Random Task and the Benchmade/Osborne 940 as modifed wharncliffs?

Mike,

You might want to check www.shawcustomknives.com 3 3/8" blade on the large Pony Express. I also hear he's a nice guy. Call me or e-mail and I'll give you the info.

Yeah, I _really_ like his work as well, but I can't bring myself to buy one without "feeling" it first, and I haven't seen on in-the-flesh.

I'm not currently a big fan of the Axis lock. I completely spaced the Random Task -- good call on that one. I saw a CRKT w/Warncliff at the gun show, but didn't know what model it was. Thanks.

Running Dog has a nice wharncliff.

Naaahh ... forget it ... it's a fixed blade.

Michael,

I really love my Mirage Gray Ghost, but I looking seriously at the William Henry 'International' series. I like VG-10, and have heard good things about WH.

The price difference is large...it's hard to find production Wharncliffe knives. I know of few others beside the Mini-Task.

Michael Aos..I got to handle some of his stuff. Very nice. Solid lock, solid feel in the hand, very smoooooth opening. He knows his stuff! These aren't little tac knives, they are solid knives that look great and perform even better! He actually made a fixed blade warncliff for me when i was at his shop. Great grinds, great fit!

If you don't mind paying custom prices, Brian Tighe makes a great Wharncliffe. The Allen Elishewitz Cortex is nice also. Two high end factory wharncliffes that are great are the Klotzlis (3.75, 3.25, 3"). Another 3" wharncliffe is the William Henry International. Finally, the Kershaw Mini Task is a great 2.7" wharncliffe.

Let's see if this works.

Thanks. I'd glossed right over the Klotzlis. I'm definitely going to check them out -- most I've seen so far are combo-edge, but there aught to be a plain-edge out there somewhere.

There's also the Whitewing Warlock, with a 3" blade in CPM 3V.

While we're discussing Wharncliff blades, how about something in the 2.5 range?

Another nice Wharncliffe blade is the CKRT Wasp. The Wasp is a Viele design that is extremely slick looking. They run well under $100 ($85-$80).

Thanks, I have a small wasp. Great knife, although I wish I'd have bought the larger one.

It's only ground on one side though (chisel?), which is a bummer.

Is the Grey Ghost warncliff thinner than the Mirage warncliff?

I have a "normal" mirage, and it's kind of thick.

This is a new model called the Shrike: 3 1/2" BG-42 blade, titanium frame, carbon fiber overlays:
