Hi All,
This is my latest and to-date largest finished blade.
It's the 115% scale version of my hunter.
Basic specs:
OAL 8.4"
3.7" blade, tip to handle
1/8" O1, torch forge & oil heat-treated
curly maple book-matched scales cut from reclaimed gym flooring, tru-oiled
exposed pommel for tap-tap
The grind on this knife is very high for its thickness which looks and feels great, but makes it more Big Scalpel than Mountain Man.
The finish is simply 220 grit sanding with a Flitz Wax buff to it. I tried some belt-finishing this time and didn't like where that was going, so I hand-sanded and left the lower-grit finish. Learning as I go.
I love this knife, I've gotta say. The curve of the handle is just perfect in the hand, like the 100% model, and if my hands were bigger it would fit like a dream.
Thanks for looking.

Among some inspiration:
Clear difference in the matte surface finish despite lighting variations. All blades are Flitz Rifle Waxed.
A family pic of related knives. From left-to-right:
115% Hunter, 100%, 80%, 100% (fishing knife??), 80%
Hunters packed and ready to go:
