Yes, it's wrong to ask what it's worth on this forum for several reasons. To wit: any person can tell you what they think it's worth, which in turn means just about spit. It's worth what someone is willing to pay, and what you're willing to take for it; everything else is just so much BS.
In order to curtail potential abuse of membership privileges associated with the forums, questions regarding valuation of knives and collections are limited to those with a membership level which permits selling on this site. Accordingly, registered and basic members may not start or post in threads with such requests whether with the intent to sell or for informational purposes only. This rule applies throughout the site.
In other words, without a paid Gold membership, you don't get to ask about sale values. Too many people abused this question to hint they had a knife for sale, which you need that membership for.
This is why I asked the question in this forum. I know, hope, that the people here are Randall collectors and have been buying Randalls for their collections or use and that there are some experts here as there are in Bernards forum who would straighten out someone who made some outlandish statements about what something was worth.
I have looked at completed listings on ebay for my knife but there are not to many, damn few, 3-7's just like my knife that have sold. Some that didn't sell had prices of 700 to 1000 dollars. I don't believe these are realistic prices and this is one of the reasons I posted in here. I just wanted some ballpark ideas from people that have sold knives.
As an example, if a person with no interest in the knife, or ability to buy it, spouts off that it's worth $xx, or $xxx, or $xxxx, and you take that amount at face value, and then expect that for it, you'd be doing a disservice to both yourself and potential viable buyers.
This is why I'm asking here, because I want to sell the knife at a fair price and not do a disservice to anyone.
