Whats up folks,
im on the hunt for a new knife similar in size and weight to a spyderco military, looking for something with g10 scales, liner or frame lock, light weight (5oz or less) and a blade length of 3.75-4"
Any suggestions would be great, as im sure theres knives out there that i dont know of. Price between $100-450. Lower the better, but not crap or China made.
Thanks.

Check out the Southern Grind Bad Monkey, awesome US made liner lock with many options to choose from.

I am confused. It sounds like you are looking for a Spyderco Military.

However, Cold Steel has knives like that, but with the superb Triad Lock.

If the Kershaw Piston was just a little longer, I think it would be good for what you are looking for.

If you're willing to compromise on the liner or framelock requirement you have the Benchmade 710, Al Mar Eagle HD and the upcoming Cold Steel Swift. Or, for well within your budget, you could get a ZT 0452CF and have a custom G10 scale made.

If you would be open to a button lock, the 4" Hogue EX01 with "G-Mascus" handle is very nice.

I have a few millies, looking for other options.
Thanks for the reccomendations, the zt0452 seems like a viable option. Let me see if i can track one down now

Bad Monkey seems right up your alley, but I am not sure about the weight. It feels a little heavier than your target because the blade is a good chunk of steel, but I don't know the official weight of it.

What is the consensus on the bad monkeys steel (14c-28n), and i mean from real world use, not theoretical. Im not into the "super steel" hype. Anything that will dull s30v or similar steel quickly, will dull s90v or m390, ie hitting concrete, staples, glass ect..my knives contact these things from time to time on accident at work. So im guessing 14c-28n is similar to something like vg10 but im not sure.

It's a tougher steel, and easy to sharpen. Edge retention will be a little lower in general than s30v but it will not chip or get damaged anywhere near as easily.
Good steel if you don't mind sharpening fairly often, but not at all hard to work with, and super tough like I said. It's a great user steal.

Awesome, i think im gonna grab a bad monkey. They have a "build your own" option with g10 as an option i believe. Sounds like the perfect candidate. Im down to three knives, cleared out all the small stuff (sub 3.5") and im left with 2 millies and a sebenza.

Yeah not a bad idea by any means.

If you have a Sebenza then the Bad Monory will have a bout the same edge retention overall to give you a good benchmark.

Thats good, ive never had any complaints about my sebenzas, they cut things and when they dont 2 min of stropping makes them cut things again :). So the bad monkey should serve me well haha
