Have a couple 710 sheaths coming for my bk2 and bk16 with 3/8 fire steel loops. What cost effective steels do becker heads carry? :D. Thanks for any info!!!

Oh and the becker content--- the sheaths are for these two!

I honestly don't think I have any firesteels that small. Mine are all 5" x.5" and should last me quite awhile.

I have a bunch of firesteels, I think my 3/8 is from Firesteel.com. They make all their own steels some up to 1" thick

Sorry, meant to add in which ones they are. The "Bunker" model from firesteel dot com. Has worked very, very nicely. A little softer than some of the others I have used, so it produces big globs of molten hell with which to light a flame.

Here is a pic of the newer one on my BK16 sheath.

I primarily use 3/8" x 3". I feel like it a good size that is enough to hold onto, yet large enough to throw sparks. I've got a friend that all he uses is the 4" long rods but I have noticed that I only use about 1.5" of the rod for scraping. The rest of the rod is just a handle. YMMV

yeah i checked out firesteel and they have some 3" long 3/8" diam steels that look good. i forgot about swedish firesteel.....i have one of those already i stashed in my maxpedition mongo! seems like i have plenty of options for 3/8. i was worried that i chose the wrong diam steel loop for my 710 sheaths lol. thanks again guys!

After using a few different models over the last few months and so testing last weekend, I'll only be using Light My Fire 2.0 steels from this point forward. The difference in what natural materials can be lit is big.
