top -- spot on 16.5" 1.5 pound WWII model by Bura and company. Yangdu says it's a blem but I don't see why. 1/2 price + shipping = $75

center -- 15 inch 22 ounce BAS by Shanker. 10/10 rig with 1/4 inch superglue fix crack in handle at buttcap. Glue or use as is. 1/2 price + shipping = $60

bottom -- Great 18 inch AK by Bura but he stuttered on this one. When he hardened the blade the edge popped and there's a 1/4 inch crack in it. Never should have sent it. I've used blades with the little crack like this and they never failed and this one won't either but it looks like hell. Pala is pissed off because they are not inspecting the knives while he's away -- said to sell this for $50 delivered -- about $100 off regular. Take a look at the handle. Bura wasted a beautiful piece of saatisal.

Call or email.

Bill, when you're making a blade and the edge pops- a crack forms while hardening; what do you do? I mean, if you spot it, can you heat the blade up again, pound some more and make it right? Just curious.

That really is a pretty handle. The blade looks good too. couldn't see the crack. Nice shape and drop to the AK.

Cracked blade is gone.

Blade needs to go back into the forge, cracked area pounded out, blade heated up and rehardened.

Sarge; how many 16.5" WWll's should we encourage Rusty to own?

Munk, this particular one by Bura is just about a spitting image of one that Rusty and I both miss. It was last seen headed to Kuwait/Iraq in the hands of a 4th Infantry soldier. Same khuk used to go inside my sleeping bag along with my pistol at night over in Afghanistan. There are 16.5" WWIIs, and then there are horn handled, Bura made, 16.5" WWIIs. They have a certain "presence" about 'em.:D

A BAS blem is, IMHO, one of the absolute best bargains in the world of knives, bar none. Put some Bondini in the hairline crack and forget about that handle, it won't bust, and you don't have to baby the knife, 'cause hey, it's a blem, right?

I'll restrain my HIKV/khuk greed (in truth I'd give it to one of my boys)until 1700 hrs CST, but if it ain't gone by then it will be. Bwaaa, unlike the "Saintly Duck" I give fair warning. ;)

Great knives, great prices.:D Uncle, where exactly is that crack in the edge of the AK? I'm wondering if maybe a fellow could regrind the blade to a slightly narrower profile (1/4" to be exact) and thus eliminate the crack. The knife shouldn't suffer much from such a modification, and might even come out of the process leaner, meaner, and ready to rock. What a bargain for fifty bucks, especially with that woodchuck's dream of a handle.

Four hours late on the 16.5".

Sarge put it aptly. Something bout a Bura WW2 16.5" helps you sleep best of any khuk.

For the record, I have one 18" Sher WW2. Not at all the same thing.

"Moon Dragon" is in good hands Rusty. Young fellow's a combat engineer, and I got a feeling he and that khuk will both earn their keep. I could be bumping into him sometime soon, so I'll naturally check to make sure he's taking good care of that well traveled blade.;)

It's junk; Clifton will take it off your hands.

.. ....

My last WWll was made by Sher and I liked it. I had one by Kesar and I liked it. I have a 16.5" Chiruwa AK by Bura and I aint letting go of it. But I like Sher's emphasis on weight and that nearly convex edge for the 18"WWll. When i get another WWll to replace the one I just gave to a friend, Sher or. ... Kumar will be peachy keeno.

My 18" Sher WWII is probably as good an all-purpose khuk as any ever made. Very stout, sound blade.

On the other hand if I ever had to attack hell with a water pistol, Bura's the one who would be there with me.
