Some one was wondering why I never got a Junglas II or I. I told him I had 3 BK9s and I was fine. 3 micarta handled ones and they seem to be doing well I never had to get any thing to replace my medium chopper multi-tools. (I call them medium knives considered what I do with my big blades) They are able to do short machette work and are multi-tool knives from smallish jobs to whackering ones. For true heavy chopping, that's when the SP-51, 53 and SP-8s come out, to do the job class they were meant to do. My RD-9s and SP-5 fall around the BK9 duty area I use them for. But the BK9s and SP-5 have the better handles. My RD9s and BK9s flip flop in and out of the jobs, well because I got 3 of each and I just grab one when I need the larger knife because I got "TO MANY OF THEM!" some people whine at me. But when I know I have to use some thing for a while on a long duration non work in the swamp or alderbrush day, the better handled BK9 usually goes in the job pack. Oh there is a nice one better than the BK9 for most jobs and that's the BK4, but it not around any more. Mine came back from a friend who came back from a wandering back pack in the wilderhood for a few weeks, he asked for the best knife I could loan him and the BK-4 went with him. He needed a super multi took knife, besides the SP-53 he learned to take a few blades and light hatchet and a saw with decent saw blade numbers than a big clunky axe. The BK4 was the main multi tool knife he used, atleast he sharpened it after I got it back. He said he would of taken the BK9 if the BK4 wasn't available, it all came down I confirmed with him that was Mr. Becker's idea. A good Handle goes a long way for a good knife. So the more affordable and dependable and expendable knife that performs above its calling, is the BK4, and if not available, the BK9 will also do.
