I have been finishing up some knives for the upcoming Adelaide Knife Show on Nov 6-7.

I am really excited to show this one off as it is my first multiblade folder. I really need to get some better photos but I put together this quick edit.

  • 3/32 O1 steel
  • Stainless liners and bolsters
  • Milled relief
  • Jigged bone handles
  • Double pinned sowbelly shield

It isn't perfect, the 2 overlapping blades just clear each other without rubbing I think they will get some rub marks on them eventually. I also didn't bend the sheeps foot blade fair enough into the middle which would have helped a lot with the clearance but you have to start somewhere.

I have to say thanks to Tony Bose for sending me the pattern and with some hints and tips, along with Kerry Hampton and Ken Erickson for sharing their knowledge too.

love that pattern, good in hand feel for me.
Excellent:thumbup: cool shield too!

Rubs not a big deal...3 blades working together in the same handle is something to crow about for sure. Nice job!:cool:

Some good guys here that are kind enough to send their patterns for others to build knives. Only here.

Great job, that's some pretty looking knife. Congratulations.

Looks like a great effort, Alistair. One of my favorite patterns. Congrats on taking the large step!:cool:

What a great pattern and its looks like you did really good work on this one. Congratulations! Your work is advancing at an exponential pace! :)

 Looks great, be it your first multi blade or 100th!

I enjoyed our emails as you were building this one and I hope to see many more examples of your work in the future,

Ken

I agree, with desire and time, things will improve and with these types of knives you will always find ways to improve. I imagine the same thing effects every traditional maker from the time they start maiking them to the time they decide to stop.

Those look great to me.

Good to know and I would rather a knife that gathers rubs on the blade from being used than have it pristine but sitting in a draw.

I love showing them off. I am sure I'll still have plenty of questions in the future too :) Hopefully I can manage to come over to the US sometime in the future and meet all you guys at Blade or something.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I really am over the moon with completing this one. It feels like a real milestone for me. The last 4 knives or so I have made really feel like that have reached a new level for me and it wouldn't have been possible without all the stuff I have learnt from Tony, Kerry and Ken.

Would you believe this is only the 15th slipjoint I have made!! As a knifemaker who only makes in my spare time it seems every new knife I make I force myself to learn and try something new. This was the second knife I every put swedges on, the first time I tried fitting the scales the same way Ken showed in one of his WIP threads, the third time I had done a shield.. the list goes on and on.

I think it looks GREAT!! Well done! Like it was said before
3 blades in the same knife and working is a lovely thing!!
