The 3 Blades I'm looking at are. ESEE-5 Fehrman Last chance and CRK Green Beret. The price range I want too stay with. Plus size of Blade. Which would you guys recommend?

Out of those three I didn't have a single knife so take what I say with that in mind.

I'm not a big fan of Green Beret, after I've watched the destruction video of one from knifetests, now I recognize its not the most objective test out there. I just had slightly higher expectations, and was hoping it would be on par with strider fixed blades.

ESEE is a great knife, with great price compared to other three, if I was tight on cash I'd go with it.

Fehrman Last chance, just googled it, and like it the most out of the three but can't back that up with any facts. It is just the knife that appeals the most to me after looking at all three.

Sorry for not being more informative.

Happen to have owned all three, I only have one left. I kept what I thought was the better knife, the Fehrman. However all are great knives, I like CRK folders much more than the fixed blades they make. So I held onto the ESEE-5 longer.

The next person owning all three may like the other two better, so I all can tell you is that I (1 person) prefer the Fehrman.

BTW: I just recently picked-up the Fehrman, but in the short time I've had it it's held up very well.

I don't know but I just bought an ESEE RC-5. I know the warranty cannot be beat and if it is anything like my Izula it is tougher than nails.

It is tougher than nails, and I liked the way the handle fit my hand. I regret letting this one go more than the other, but I may get a 6 instead.

You know, I had the ESEE-6 and I thought I would love it. Didn't. Don't get me wrong, love ESEE products...I have 3. I sold the 6 and used the proceeds to buy a 4 with which I am very very please.

Here is the thing about the 6...it's huge. It seems way bigger than 6 inches and the blade is very wide. It is a thing of beauty and was hair popping sharp. My only objection was its bigness...it is a short machete...which is fine if you need a machete. I already have two.

So, if I had it to do over again, I would either have gotten the 4, which I know I am happy with, or the 5. Now the 5 is a different animal. It is very big and heavy but it isn't a machete. It is a hard-core survival knife. It'd be good for chopping your way out of fusilage, out of earthquake rubble. Some might call it an "urban" survival knife. The 6 is more of a wilderness knife where one would want one tool to do it all.

So my impression of the 6 was that it was just too much knife for me. I just couldn't see carrying it anywhere I want to go with a knife. The 4 is perfect for that.

Price wise, the ESEE 5. Some people prefer the ESEE 6" thinner blade, but the Fehrman's blade is also 1/4" thick, too. The GB's blade is a little thinner, plus the .225" is at its thickest point (The tang).

The GB's also the only SS model of the 3. It really depends on what you're looking for, but if price is an issue (& an excellent warranty), I'd say go for the ESEE 5 & with the $ you same, you can get another, maybe smaller ESEE.

Of course, you could get a Becker BK2 with micarta scales, although I prefer the Bk10 Crewman, but Ka-Bar isn't making those yet (You'd have to get the harder to find Camillus made one).

What are you looking for in a knife? Those 3 are different in steel, warranty, thickness, and majorly different in cost! I have an RC5. it is a pry bar, great warranty, and great heat treating. The Factory edge is awesome...one of the best I have ever had! I have seen the knifetest on the CRK, yes it is over the top but still for the price that knife should have held up far better! One thing I do notice is all blades are around the same length. If so I would also consider the Fallkniven S1.

if you're prepared to pay CRK kind of $$$, have a look at the Fallkniven lineup. the S1 is around the same size as the ESEE5.

I can't say much about the other two, but I have a Fehrman Last Chance, and I may never need to purchase another blade in this size range again (until my collector itch comes across something else that catches my eye!). The Last Chance has exceeded all of my expectations for performance and toughness, is easy for me to sharpen, has a great edge geometry, and feels great in hand for me. My hands are on the larger side, and the LC fits great in my hand. For a 5.5" blade, it's HUGE. There is a phenomenal amount of steel in it. This is a video review I did of it comparing it to the Cold Steel SRK. You can't go wrong with the LC. It is a beast. But, you never know, you may not be looking for something that is 5.5" long but almost a full pound in weight.

If you are going to spend that kinda cabbage have you looked at the Boss Street from Busse? Not as long but a very good knife! I still like the S1 as an option. The Last Chance is nice but big and heavy..oh and big money. A little outside my taste but very impressive, I really like the handle!!

I own an RC-5 and I absolutely love it. Bought it after recommendations from this forum. Holds an edge superbly and it's shaving sharp. Easy to sharpen in the field and at least so far, I haven't had any problems with rust.
It is a proper survival blade.

I got a chance too hold the CRK Green Beret and Neil Roberts Warrior. The Neil Roberts feels better in my hand. Beret out Roberts in. Peacemaker may replace the Second Chance.

Out of those three I would say the ESSE and the Ferman.

ESSE is cheaper, and had the best warranty in the Biz. Ferman has a great following as well (off the top of my head I can't remember the warranty, but I seem to remember it is great as well).

You may also want to look at SwampRat, Scrapyard and Busse as well. In that size, Busse will be the most expensive. They are also (all three family knives) harder to find.

Check the exchange on here specifically for them.
