Damnit Im excited!
I aint got any pics to show you yet, I just wanted to share my excitement.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

By the way, I need fittings for it.
Can anybody here do that kind of work ?
I need the metal bands for the sheath, fuchi/kashira and a tsuba. (they have to be custom because of the large size of the weapon)

That stuff is such a specialized group of things, I could never do that without training. I have a link too a custom sword fittings shop, if you're interested tho...after I visited, I realized these arent the 25 dollar Paul Chen tsubas and such, but the real deal (pricey!)

Keith

The guy that made that habaki i posted also makes fittings, not cheap though.

I know Kohei had some fittings made by someone....

Some of us know nothing about these things but would like to...pictures to explain the terms please? Perhaps even Paul Chen pics?

Odachi--big sword, war sword.
Tsuba - disc like hand guard
fuchi-a bolster fitting on the handle
kashira - a pommel cap for the handle. usually in matched sets with fuchi, even with fuchi and tsuba.
habaki- collar that holds the base of the blade, in front of the seppa and tsuba.
Seppa - spacers, washers that fit around the tsuba in the katana assembly.
