[/IMG] Hello everyone. I recently acquired a 3 dot 110. It was pretty gunked up when I received it. I did my best to clean up the pivot and the lock bar. Now it snaps open and locks up tight. However, when you close it, the blade bounces back up about a quarter inch out of the handle. It will close and stay closed if I deliberately do so. I was wondering if anyone had an idea on what the issue may be? I'll send the knife to buck if need be, I just wanted to make sure it's not something simple I'm missing. Thanks in advance.

Could be the back spring is still gunked up.
That's possible. I tried warm soapy water and compressed air. Then wd-40 and compressed air. If it's still gunked,I dont know how to clean it better without disassembly.

I'll say go ahead and send it in. Every time I send one off, I'm always amazed at the superb condition it comes back in. Nothing against your skills, but I'm pretty sure you would be, too. Besides, they'll put a new edge on it also. Plus you get peace of mind. Win-win.

What I use is Dawn and really hot water..Not boiling but from the coffee pot. Use a good squirt of the dish detergent and work the blade a minute or two then put it in a bowl half opened and pour the hot water over it..Rinse well and put a drop of lubricant. Really gets the crud out.

Please excuse me if you've already done this. Look in the blade well in the front and see if anything is binding. Depress the lock bar with the blade closed and examine if any tar or crud is in that lock. Or on the end of the blade. Eliminate that then work on the pivot. It's in
that area. DM

WD40 leaves a waxy residue that will gum things up worse. You wouldn't believe what that does to a lock cylinder when it mixes with Graphite...

Two rounds of hot water from the kettle with dawn seemed to do the trick. It is now closing properly. Thanks for the help everyone.

Take the knife, lay down a soft cloth on a hard surface and hitthe front bolster radius with a fairly sharp hit on both sides.. sometimes the bushing is binding a little and it gets everything settled into place..
