They just added the Reaper in three flavors to the web specials at a decent discount. All are 420HC steel. The Linen Micarta and Rosewood have the descriptions switched with each other or the pictures are switched.

I knew you guys were going to be a bad influence when I joined... this confirms it

I have one coming my way now... I already have the black coated blade with the grey Micarta handle, I'm not too keen about that textured finish on the blade, that makes it hard to clean, so I got the plain blade with the olive drab handle.

I clicked on the Web specials page and it didn't show up there..A real bargain!

it's a weird knife. not quite heavy enough to do any real chopping well......unless lighter stuff, and awkward for regular cutting.....unless choked up on. still hard not to like them. think im in for an uncoated version. thanks for posting, Sir.

Overall, it is not my type of knife, but I like to post web-specials when I see them so others may benefit (even when they pull it from web-specials 20 minutes later ).

Or buy the coated version and give yourself something to do, I removed the coating from mine, and I think those handles on the black one look good.

Yeah... I don't know what Buck was thinking when they did that so called "traction" coating... I want my blades smooth to glide through what I'm cutting, especially meat.

That stuff kinda reminds me of truck bed coating.

I found this 2013 post when member mbjannusch sent his Reaper to Stone Knifeworks for a make over, removing that funky coating

Wow! What a difference.... check out the pics in posts #43 & #49 in this thread, it sure has me thinking now.

As far as I know the steel in the Ridgeway 7Cr17MoV is the only time Buck has used it. Plus its Burlwood..I never knew this one existed.

The 317 Ridgeway was designed to meet European Union pocket knife requirements (blade length and non locking). Named for the historic ancient Ridgeway National Trail in England. It was not marketed in North America. In the past I tried unsuccessfully to order one from the UK from several dealers for my collection. Haebbie came to my rescue and sent me one from Germany. It is a bargain at $15. For that price I think I will order some for gifts.
