Looking for some recommendations on some folders under 3" for around $100. Needs to be able to handle a bit of hard use.

I would look at one of the smaller cold steel folders that have the CTS xhp. Also a delica ain't that delicate..... Another angle would be a friction folder custom made by wwells right here one BF. Send him a pm, I think he has one available right now. Russ

Yeah I really think the delica is stronger than most people think it has full steel liners ( milled out so it's a very light knife) a good lockback can be very secure as well in my opinion.

I would have to agree with the suggestions above, a HK would be the way to go. A Ritter Mini Griptillian would be my second choice.

Just curious: Since your title says 3" folder and your post says "under"...is it 3 & under, or just under 3"..? :D

Mini Grips, Delicas, Natives, ZT0900, Leek, Rat 2, the list is huge, really. But, I thought I'd suggest something a little different, even though I own and like all of those knives.

Give the Cold Steel Hold Out 3 a chance. Great, grippy G10 handle, perfectly heat treated AUS-8A steel blade, and the highly regarded Tri-Ad lock.

I have a Hold Out 2 and it's impressive.

If you are willing to spend a little more then consider the DPX HEAT. Great small knife and up for any task. If your budget is set then I would definitely consider the Benchmades listed above!

Here is the DPX HEAT with the ZT0900 for size comparison:

You can find the Kizer 3404A3 for a little under a hundred now - which is insane. It's a full titanium framelock with S35VN steel, a great flipper, contoured scales, and an over-travel stop. I'd be willing to argue that it's the most impressive knife you can get for under $100. As an alternative, the Native5 LW is another great knife. It's not as technically impressive as the Kizer, but I like the ergos a bit better with the forward choil, and I can tell you from personal experience that the linerless FRN handle can absorb a lot more punishment than people give it credit for, and makes it barely noticeable in your pocket.
