3 HP 230V AC DC Drive on Ebay -

I would ask the seller a few things.

Where is the rest of it? There should be a cover and a knob to ajust the output. Is there a manual? Is it gauranteed to work?

These things are not covered in the listing and I would verify them before the buy.

I would get the answers, then bid, not use the buy now option.

Also, do you have access to a motor that this controller will support?

The motor and controller have certain criteria that need to match so you will want to be sure you can use it if you buy it.

Bob, there are quite a few of these type controllers found on Ebay from time to time that are not complete with enclosures, switches or a speed pot. The KB Electronics web site offers manuals for many of their drives and they can be downloaded at no cost. The manual explains the hookups for switches and such. I have made up 7 or 8 drives such as this one but have only dealt with drives that accept 120V AC input. This particular drive is for 230V service and since it is the KBIC model I suspect it does not have reverse motor direction support built into it.

I just checked and KB Electronics does have the manual for this drive (KBIC-225). You will need Acrobat reader to view and print it. I also checked back at the auction and it appears that the hourse power resistor is installed.

I do not know this fellow and have never bought from him but if I were in the market for a drive that required 230V AC shop service I would give this one a five star rating except that motor reversing is not built in. It does require the buyer get his own enclosure, switch and speed potentiometer (Radio Shack - a few bucks).
