Good lookin knives:thumbup: The giraffe bone reminded me of a thread in the custom knife forum several weeks ago where some guys were poo-pooing it. Besides keepin a giraffe from looking like an ameoba, it looks like an excellent use for it to me :D

Kerry,
I like it fine. It's very hard, and took a while to shape. It looks good though.

Nice clean classic solid looking users IMO, anyone could own one of those beauties.

You must have gotten in a shipment of ATS34, everything out of your workshop was CPM 154 for a while.

How is the ATS34 working out for you? I don't have any issues with it because I have it on a couple of knives, seems to hold up very well.

SpearZ,
I did. They are pretty much the same steel. One is American made (154CM)and one is Japanese made (ATS-34). The 154CM is usually easier for me to find. I think they grind and sharpen exactly the same. The 154CM is powder based whereas the ATS-34 is not. I have gotten some pits in the 154 CM before which really piss me off. I don't ever get pits in the ATS-34. That's just my experience. I did just get about 18 ft of the ATS-34. But, I still have 6 ft of 154 CM left. I plan on using both for my knives. After this batch of steel I'll probably order some S30V for some knives. It is a lot more expensive and I think that the ATS-34 and 154 CM are reasonably priced steel, which helps me keep my price at an affordable level. But, I'm curious to try the S30V.
