Any ideas?? Must have a pocket clip and be under $50...decent steel is also a must. No junk, I have ruled out the Delica because of the blade style. I want a utility blade that can handle some punishment. Any and all ideas are welcome...:)

Spyderco Calypso Jr Ltwt.... VG10
Spyderco Centofante III..... VG-10 (a little over 3" I think.)

Save up your money awhile longer and get a Benchmade Mini-Griptilian...It'll be worth the wait.:).

Ka-bar 3 inch folder...bob dozier design...only $18.....i've beaten this to death and it wont die....or better still get 2 and still be under $50!!

Does punishment equal abuse? If thats the case by a small fixed blade...

Otherwise you can't beat a Delica or Calypso Jr. They will out cut most other knives easily.

Guys, thanks for all the help! So far I have narrowed it down to these three Spydercos...

The Native (S30V)
Calypso JR
Salt 1

Can anyone give me more info on the Salt? I know it's rust proof and what not but how well does H1 Steel hold up edge wise? Is it similiar to any other steel and is it easy to sharpen? Thanks in advance...:)

H1 seems to hold an edge about as well as 420HC or the steel in SAK's. It is easy to sharpen, or so I here. I don't own one myself.

The AG Russell Featherlite. Same lock as a lockback, but not back release. The release is right at the tang/lock interface.
ATS-34 steel. Great utility design. VERY light.

No pocket clip unfortunately. Otherwise fits your description well.

Go with the Native! I love mine, and it seems to be one of the best work horses out there for the money. I find the Natives blade design to be one of the strongest ones on the list, so far. :D

Camillus EDC.
Benchmade 10300 Monochrome.
Plus all those mentioned above.

EDIT: Aparently I have a blind spot in my vision for the word "lockback".

Ignore...
