Quite the teamwork, and it speaks of their confidence that they work in such close proximity to the hot metal, especially when using those shears to clip the beard!
 
Great video. I always like seeing strikers work with a blacksmith. An organic power hammer.
 
I get the feeling those fellas have done that once or twice before. Skill, teamwork, and timing, along with some simple tools. That's awesome. Thanks Steve.
 
Makes me wonder if some those made in bulgaria axe heads that you see on the big auction sight might be worth while. I've always been tempted to try one just because they're different patterns and pretty cheap.
 
Until I opened the thread I was trying to figure out how 3 men could use any axe to chop with, it seemed that would be quite the trick.
 
A picture from the 16th century showing 4 men hammering a scythe blade.
I guess that with thin blades like that, they want to get as much deformation as they can for each heating of the steel.

It is real beauty to see threesome hammering!
But, guys!
All I can see is that they just reshaping the blade of already forged or cast or welded bearded axe...
Also the temp of the metal was too much - they just burned the steel - if it is a steel.
The real quality forging should be done in other temp.

Please, see the Jim Austin's job, or Neeman's work...

Couple of my immediate thoughts - then follow up thoughts -

I could do that. - No, Mike, you couldn't.

Those guys probably have arms and hands of steel. I would like to arm wrestle one of them. - I would get my arm broke.

That is some trust and teamwork. - wish we had more of that in everyday work life.

Great video. Almost harmonic/symphony like to me when all three get hammering away. I can't believe one of them hasn't cracked the main guy in the head....you seem him lean in a couple times? Whoa. Thanks for posting Steve.
 
Always nice to see ! When men were men . Here they work hard to turn boys into girls.
I've seen this in a bearing factory and always stopped to watch when I was nearby. There is an old film of making ships anchors and chain where eight men worked wrought iron into a huge anchor ,what a sight !!

Now that's pretty dang cool. Gives one a major respect for anchors.
