A trio of knives recently custom ordered by a great client for himself and his best friends. They're very similar, so I'll mix up the photos a bit.

Thanks for looking!

that jasper is gorgeous. I really like this design too.
Your patron must be quite a guy to gift his friends so generously.

I'm right on with Lorien, that jasper is killer and I like the design as well.

Thanks, guys.
The original design for Mercury Magnum was done by an active SWAT team member in a large west coast city. I've made several of these for law enforcement, in slightly different sizes.

Lorien, I'm honored to have some of the greatest custom knife clients!

It is very obvious to me that you hold your patrons in high esteem. I think that's great, and I bet they do too.

beautiful work, Jay! i always look forward to seeing the pics of your new knives!

gonna hunt for some nephrite on Saturday!
There's gotta be some rockhound out there somewhere who needs a little sumthin for their bike:confused::D

Great work Jay. That is outstanding jasper, and exceptional work in all.

Thanks for posting them,
Peter

Thanks guys, for all the comments.
The Leopard Skin Jasper comes from India, and is a microcrystalline quartz, very tough and hard. This is a durable stone and will well outlast the blades.

Lorien, as makers, we sometimes get lost in ourselves and our own personal journey, and since most knife making takes place alone this is only natural. My professional contacts with the rest of the world are almost exclusively through my clients, who let me know exactly what they want.

In most of the working world, a guy has one boss, one source of direction and goals. In businesses like mine (yours too!) we have many bosses. Each client who orders a knife conducts a personal job interview. Even when I'm making knives for my inventory, I try to think of the final owner, and what he might think of his knife, how he might value it.

That is so true. It's a humbling existence isn't it? And rightly so:thumbup:.
