So I lost my Canal Street Pinch Lockback in Buffalo Horn at the bottom of Franklin Gorge while climbing, which was a bummer considering I carried that knife for 5 months straight. In my search for a replacement, I decided to try something different, and found a good deal on a used Canittler and a used Dog's Head Coppersmith Barlow. Then there was Eric's Jack, about two days after I scooped those two up. Well they all came in about yesterday, and so I'm having a hard time figuring out which to carry.

Sorry about the crummy cell phone pictures.

So far all three are fantastic knives.

Nice knives and thank you for sharing them! Wish we would see more of CSC's knives around here to be honest as they make an excellent product. One of the few brands that has not let my down in the fit and finish department when compared to GEC. Hopefully some day they will venture out and make some more patterns or even different variations of their current patterns. A single blade version of their current Barlow would be awesome! :)

I have one of their pinch lockbacks, and the quality is excellent. Sorry that you lost yours.

Take a look at their Squeeze Lock Back. It's got a lanyard hole for rock climbing. ;)

It's good to see some Canal Street knives here. I was collecting their SFO's for a while, but I got tired of the same old pattern.... I wish they would change it up a little.

That Cannitler there is a thing of beauty! I have one in Buffalo horn. The design is perfect. It just melts into your hand. I'm not a huge fan of their Barlows. I have a couple of the stainless steel ones and they are just a little too small for me. I love that copper bolster though!

I own more CSC than I do GEC. I do like the softer pull.
I hope they'll start using carbon steel at some point.

I'll have to check into that, once I get some more funds for knives.

Ah a Canittler in Buffalo Horn, something I try and find every once in a while. Never do see one for sale.

I am not a big fan of csc, no real reason for that...
a buddy of mine prolly has one of each!
But I really like my Eriks jack, those are sweet knives.
wouldn't mind a barlow with carbon fiber scales either...
Nice lot you scored!

I like to know what your impression is of each after carrying them for a week or so.
Nice knives

NICE !!!

Just this week, I too picked up a couple of CSC knives made for KABAR. Man these things are nice. I like them more each day and as I work them. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The Zippo in copper, I've carried since 2003.

As a long time Schrade collector i have a 'soft spot' for Canal Street Cutlery. Just in case you do not know CSC was formed by Schrade employees who lost their long time jobs when Imperial Schrade was forced to shut down in 2004.
Even though CSC started about the same time as GEC, their knives have not gained the huge popularity that GEC has developed. If you look at quality of materials and of workmanship the Canal Street knives are every bit as good as the GEC knives and pricing is comparable as well. Canal Street Cutlery also has excellent quality control. You rarely (if ever ?) read a post of one of their knives being returned for some 'issue'.
It's difficult to describe but the CSC knives seem to have a different 'personality', 'look' or 'feel' from the GEC knives even when comparing the same patterns, like a Stockman or a Barlow from each of these manufacturers.
I hope more of us knifers start supporting Canal Street Cutlery because they are the true continuation of Schrade U.S.A.

I'll see about doing that.

Nice! Really like the discoloration on that zippo.

I didn't know that. Pretty cool information there, I've got an old Schrade sitting in a drawer at home somewhere, going to have to take it out and compare it.

Big CSC fan here as well. I do wish they produced more patterns but I am a big fan of what they do produce. My most carried combo is a GEC 82 and a Canal Street barlow in their reclaimed chestnut. I had to search long and hard to find one with some worm/nail holes for that extra bit of character.

I really appreciate that their knives also come reasonably sharp with a nice grind.

Jody, you do know i hope, that your "Eric's Jack" was made by Eric who works for Canal Street Cutlery.
And, he even posted pics of some carbon fiber "prototypes"(?) for you !
kj

Let's not forget that the same "midnight galaxy" layered carbon fiber has been used on a CSC barlow already.

Those shadow pattern knives look awesome Eric. I really hope we see those for sale. While you're at it, please give us a jack on the HMT frame!

Yes, I know he made it. And an outstanding job on it he did!
I missed out on the cf 2 blade barlow, the single blade without
liners is awesome! Hope they will make it to Blade in June!!
My csc crazed buddy? He doesn't like the cf..... but I am willing
to bet that once he fondles one, he will get one.
And I really like the blue tint in the cf also.
I guess, like with gec, I just like certain patterns.
Took me awhile to warm up to gec. Their 25 and 15 are my
favorite patterns, I am a fan of jackknives. I would
say the Charlie's sfo hj's are what made me a gec fan.
edit: sorry for misspelling your name, Eric.

Those are real nice, Eric, but I was more impressed with the ones you showed me during my visit! Got any pics of those to share?

I'm obsessed with the Barlow Eric made and posted a year or so ago in one of the threads around here. I saved the pictures to my computer at the time because I want one exactly like it. Been trying to convince Eric to sell it to me but no luck so far lol.
