I just finished up these 3 recurves for a client.

The knives came out great, and the edge geometry is stellar.

Trying to make 3 knives "identical" is certainly a chore!

Thanks for looking! :D

The top one I like the finish on the best, these are some cool looking blades, need to be in an action flick.

They look great! There is no such thing as identical custom knives. I think we all understand that. I like the lighter finish the best as well. Looking forward to seeing them in the new Expendables. j/k

very nice , just curious the choil looks big to me is there a reason why or is just the pic that makes it look that way??

those are really great
what did you do for that finish if you dont mind me asking?

Thanks!

The finish was created using what is called an "acid resist".

Basically you apply a pattern to the blade using paint, glue, nail polish, etc.

You then place the knife into a solution of ferric chloride.

The ferric chloride etches the entire blade except where the resist is.

The depth of the etch is based on how long the blade is etched in the solution.

Hope this helps!

It does thank you I've done the etch before but I didn't know what you used for a resist....this helps a lot thank-you again
