Just traded for a 3" Gen 2 slicer, and curious what the blade steel is. In the sticky, it only lists 20CV as an option, but it also only lists 20CV for Gen 4 3.5" and mine of that type is s35vn. Just curious. Would be my first 20CV blade.

I think Duratech 20cv is one of the best ones for a 3" slicer. It has higher corrosion resistance than many other supersteels with all the toghness and edge retension designed into the powder mix.
Here is from Latrobe's data sheet:
Duratech 20cv is a highly wear resistant, powder metallurgy stainless tool steel. The steel contains a large volume of extremely hard vanadium carbides, which provide excellent wear resistance. Duratech 20cv contains THE HIGHEST amount of chromium of any high-vanadium stainless steel currently available. The cromium-rich matrix provides outstanding corrosion resistance. Duratech 20cv is a versatile stainless tool steel with a unique combination of high wear resistance, high corrosion resistance, good impact toughnes, and excellent polishability.

I definitely agree to all of that from my experience with 3" xm in both forms as a spanto and even more so as a spearpoint grind.

Enjoy your excellent gen2 blade!
