The knife I bought to carry with me daily turned out to be a bit big. I find myself not caring it because of the large size. I wanted to find a knife I could carry on me for years and hand down to my son but instead of my brous mini division being that knife for the last few months this Kershaw cryo is turning into that knife! Obviously I need something a bit more durable but a small thin 3" blade is the size I'm looking for. For months I've been looking for the Blount surge and laconico small jasmine. I'll constantly be looking for one of those but the stars might not align for me... Are there any other makers you can think of with the similar look at 3"?

Here is a 3.5 that carries like a 3. It is the Spyderco Caly 3.5 VG10 G10. High grade G 10, blade is sharp and useful. Action is like butter, blade centering 100%, and build is spot on. It carries deep yet so thin. The design is thoughtful and has the best ergonomics of any knife I've carried. Feels like an extension of your hand.

For a classy look, I really like the Duke 500 made by Buck. It holds a 3" drop point blade in a stainless frame. With wood slabs. DM

I should have mentioned I'm looking for a flipper... All good suggestions thus far though, thanks.

Okay...flipper.
Spyderco brad southward or Domino. both are great. I have owned two Southards and two Dominos.
reasonably priced...superb quality.

Thanks for all the replies! I'll keep my eyes open. The only offering I have found from Blount was a while ago and only 10 pieces. Ray laconico? I haven't seen anything offered.

Ray's material doesn't come up for sale very often and when it does, it has a tendency to vanish almost as quickly as it appears. There's a reason for that, of course. As you surmised, being in the right place at the right time with cash in hand is definitely helpful.

I'mma say it: there are reasons that the Spyderco Delica and the Benchmade Griptilians sell so well: They're good knives in a good size, can't go wrong with one. Also: colours!

id say a small sebenza 21 if you dont need a flipper, but if a flipper is a must have a hinderer xm-18 3" with the flipper would be great

two of the best makers out there with knives built to last, you cant go wrong with either one

Take a look at the ZT 0566. 3.25" blade flipper, comes assisted but can be de-assisted easily. Can't say enough about ZT quality and durability. Not to mention it won't break the bank as much as some of the others mentioned.

x2 I have the 0566 and 2 0350's. They are great and the 0566 is a Hinderer collaboration. Thus, you truly have the best of both worlds. I still want an XM 18 but can't justify the $$ at the present time.

Kershaw Thermite, 3.5" Spanto blade, Hinderer design without the absurd price demands. Carries very thin and deep thanks to the frame lock and clip design.
