3 Special Spydercos?

Recently I' ve come across 3 steel handled Spydercos. They are the Dragonfly, Endura and what seems to be a Rookie. "So what?" you might ask. Well, they are all coated in a completely black finish! When did Spyderco produce these? Are they a limited production? Are they rare? What are their MSRP? Any info welcomed. Sal?

Nakano - We make the stainless handled Dragonfly, Endura & Rookie, but we've never made them black. Must have been done aftermarket.

i assume that also goes for the gold plated offerings seen on ebay from time to time.

if it aint real, its no deal

Sal, to the best of your knowledge, not even as a special request run to private collectors or as a promo for businesses to give as gifts? Or is it just flat out plain no? Thanks again.

Nakano - I don't remember any, but I'll check with sales on "specials".

Rich - there are many aftermarket craftsmen that do excellent work. It's just easier for Spyderco and cheaper for the ELU to refer them and let them "do their thing" than to try to "get in the middle". That doesn't mean it isn't "real".

I've purchased some beautiful aftermarket mods to our knives.
