Yep, I feel kinda lucky. I like the looks of the ghopte, but never saw one as a UBBB. I have to get my khuk fix in because I'll be down for a while with this hip surgery in a couple of weeks. I wonder how this khuk compares with the other standards?

I ain't saying a word about what else you should take with you to the hospital, but check out Mendowood's whitethorne Shillelagh's for protection against the local nurse Ratchet ( Big Nurse in "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest ) and her aides.

Rusty, thanks for the site. I am going to need one during rehab for sure. I have been using one left by my late father-in-law. Had I known these existed I think I would have gotten him one. It was just something I never thought about. I thought that if you needed a cane you went to Walgreens. These have class and pizazz and they will still be useful for those evening walks through the pecan groves by the river after I recover.

The big decision for me now is do I get the ceramic hip or the metal hip. The ceramic works well, but will only last around ten years. The metal, which has had great success in Europe for the last 25 years, is relatively new to the U.S.,but should wear out at 1/20 the rate of the ceramic. I will have to be careful about extreme cold and heat with the metal. A hot jicuzzi could end up turning my rear end into a Virginia Ham.

awful image I didn't need roaming around in my brain:

A hot jicuzzi could end up turning my rear end into a Virginia Ham.

thank you, very much, Ben. :)

(ceramics are used for high-speed magnetic train tests and space flights; metal is used by Mercedes Benz and the kamis---your decision.)

Kis, now that I think about it, it is sort of a gruesome image. I may not be able to eat ham for a while. Let's see, space flight vs mercedes. They use parts of mercedes to make khuks, right? Think Bura would mind consulting on this procedure with the Docs? Maybe I could get him to put his initials on the shank of the hip.:D

If you go with the metal replacement, Chris Reeves does a nice cane out of rejected titanium hip joints.

Rusty, this implant in not titanium, much to my dismay. It's some sort of space age chrome moly, etc. alloy. It's made by the Depuy Company. I think that's how you spell it. I still like those Mendowood canes you let me in on earlier.
