What do you find the 3 excells at that other Beckers don't? Honest question, I've always thought of the 3 as the last Becker I will buy, but I'm always willing to be pursuaded otherwise.....
I have a 2, 3, 9 (x2), and used to have a 7 (wish I still did).
I personally don't have any use for the 2, really like the 9's for batoning kindling for the wood stove, and sold my 7 because I figured I didn't really need it since I had the 9s.
I live on 2 acres, about half wooded. The woods have been neglected for several years, so I've been trying to clear a good bit of them out this summer.
The hook is great for helping pull up sticker vines.
I had a big patch of forsythia that had spread out a lot, the 3 was really helpful for loosening the dirt around the roots to clear that crap out.
I've been using it a lot when splitting wood to knock, chop, or pry the bark off the wood.
I tried it out batoning some wood from branches about 1 to 2" in diameter yesterday, worked surprisingly well.
And it chops like a freakin' monster for as short as it is.
Pretty much any time I head out in the yard or woods I put the Esee 3 in my pocket, and grab the BK3 to keep within reach. It's so solid and stout, like I said, I really think it could handle just about anything I'd want it to.
