3 Year Knife Review - The Becker BK5 Magnum Camp

I read this already, most likely on the Becker side. But it was worth rereading.

But it rings so true about the BK-5. It is a superlative knife. It can cook, it can camp. and if pressed it can fight. And it does all those things with ease.

I am truly saddened to see it and it's little brother the BK-15 being retired. I believe I am going to grab one more of each. They are that good.

Anyone who disses this knife, most likely hasn't spent much time with it.

This is the knife Peter Blood would have had in his teeth when he swung from the yard arms of the Arabella to board an enemy ship. Had it been available.

A pirate knife that you can camp with. About as good as it gets.

***Love the sheath mod by the way. Simple, yet it changes the whole feel.

 It said it all! I love the 5. If you ever get a chance to sit down and youtube Mr. Fisk on edge geometry, those are some interesting videos to watching. I've owned my 5 now for six months and have been wearing it almost every weekend for yard work. Like it was mentioned in the review "The BK5 is not a knife that was designed to do it all. No knife is" but it will do what you need getting done, and most other things _if needed_. I'd trust this knife with my life

LostViking, I did post this on the Becker forums but figured I should post it here. Many people don't understand the strength and utility of the design and I thought I might help spread the word with a post to Ka-Bar fans. It can do it all but even more importantly, it can do most of it well. This fact forced me to buy a BK15. Should be here any day now...

TBL, so far, this BK5 is the most utalitarian knife I have found in a knife this size. It does everything well with the exception of batoning larger logs of hard woods. That's it. I have no gripes. Amazing knife.

Word. When a 'National Living Treasure' of a knife smith designs a blade, there is more too it then many people realise. The years of experience in blade geometry that designed this beast is amazing, and is proven in the design. It _can_ baton (but it will eat your baton) but its not exactly what its designed for. I've enjoy using mine for yard work because of how easily it slices through vines / branches. I've even
chopped through a 2x4 just because!

I didn't even realize Fisk was a national treasure and master blade smith until I did the review. I had to edit my original post to include additional information about him. After utilizing his design for everything I can imagine, it completely makes sense.
