I have been lucky enough to get two of the ZT 551 but I can't legally carry it everywhere I go due to 3 inch blade restrictions. I would love a Hinderer collaboration of the XM 18 3" version with Elmax or even S30V. I think there's a market for these. I know Hinderer knives can't make enough of them. Would anyone else like this knife?

No,but I feel your pain.

If I lived there,I'd be lobbying for one, also.

I would love one!!!! But I don't think they will make one for fear of competing with the XM-18. Totally agree that there isn't enough XM product and the secondary market is consequently EXPENSIVE. I would even get a regular steel if they offered one, I just love the look, form factor and flipper.

Seeing as how the XM-18 might be one of my favorite folder designs ever, I would immediately buy one as well. After browsing knife law websites, I find it hard to believe that it's not profitable to make a 3", which appears to be the legal limit in a great number of states.

I have a 3.5" length limit here, so I would also be very interested in a smaller Hinderer collab. A 3" would be my new EDC in a heartbeat. I will be getting a 0550 when they come out, but I foresee that going into more of a work knife role, not so much an EDC.

Don't forget people like me who can legally carry a 3.75" blade but would prefer a 3" for EDC. I would for sure buy a 3" version over the 3.75". *

I would love see smaller versions of most all of the ZT's knives. A smaller 0560 would be sweet. 3" to 3 1/4" blade or 4" closed is the best size to EDC. IMO

I love the 0200 but it is just too big to see very much pocket time. My ZT 0350 is a little better. But with square cut G10 it still isn't the best.
I'm ready for a 20% smaller 0200. And keep the awesome contoured G10.

I think a 3" 0550 or 0560 would be a great idea. 3" is usually a good cutoff for legal/sheeple reasons, and Rick's proven that you can do heavy-duty knife successfully in this size. +1:thumbup:

Not as much interest as I had hoped. Perhaps the market for ZT knives isn't that interested in the smaller size.

I have a small Strider PT and love it - in fact I've seen several people carry them. I wonder how their sales of the PT are doing.

I'd buy a pair of 'em...as long as it would maintain the tip up, lefty carry option.

Not too keen on small knives personally, but I would like one that is 4" :)

And this is why knife manufatuerers focus on oversized mall ninja pocket swords and the average person looks down on knives and the people who carry them.

Actually, most knife manufacturers stay at 3" or 3.25" more so than any other blade length. You looking way too into what I wrote. No one is looking down on anything. My knives aren't pocket jewlery like some folks. Just because you can't carry them, doesn't mean we are all in that same boat.

I like to carry a 4" in the woods/hunting/fishing/hiking. The 3" comes in handy at work in the hospital/office and at social functions/church where a smaller knife is easier to hide and more socially acceptable. So, I guess, since I have a 4" knife already, now I need a 3"

Actually I may carry them where I live (minus on public school grounds then the limit is 3" I believe) and where I live it is still fairly common for a man to carry a knife. I just got over feeling the need to carry a larger knife than needed a long time ago. I'm all for a large fixed blade when camping or working or when needed but not for a EDC folder. The only reason I responded the way I did was because you posted in a tread about people wanting a smaller version of a knife stating that you wanted a larger version. I see far to many post for people say "I like a 4" blade" and then turn around and complain about "sheeple" getting uptight about them carrying a knife. I never have these issues with my 3-3.25" blades and I never feel under knifed. Maybe I misunderstood and you were wanting a folding camp knife and not a 4" EDC. Either way glade to hear you actually use you knives and sorry about snapping back at your post.
