Having no clue on how you're supposed to do these things, I tried something with some leather cording. I wrapped it and epoxy soaked it. It didn't look very good and I was thinking of taking it off. Then someone recommended roughing the leather up some. So I put on rubber gloves and completely worked straight epoxy into every crack and crevice. I then put it in the vise and let it completely harden. After that I was able to file it to shape and rough sand the texture.

I like it.

That's cool, I really like the grind a lot. I bet that handle feels nice.

I made an epoxy soaked paracord wrapped handle knife to destruction test the wrap. As part of the test (nothing was working) I finally ground half of it off with the grinder, it looked cool, kind of like the handle you made but not nearly as nice all half ground, gives me ideas... Epoxy soaked handles are fun! :D

I appreciate the comments. I'm obviously just learning, but I'm enjoying it and plan on trying more in the near future. I tired bone scales on my first, micarta on my second and this leather on the third. I think I'm going to stick with micarta for awhile.

I made my first three with files, but I was able to get myself a 2"x42" craftsman grinder this last week. I have some 1080 coming from Aldo, so I hope to have some more done soon.

Good looking blade and overall shape.
I am sorry, after reading all the work you did on the handle I did my best to find something nice to say but I just can't. Best I can do is "That's one of the best ugly handle I've seen". ;)

Let's see the next one.

LOL! Bro, that is the best response I've ever read. Honestly, I appreciate the hell out of it. It may not be the best looking handle, but its comfortable and feels good in my hand. I'm glad I tried it, but most likely won't be doing it again.

well it wont win the next beauty contest but it sure looks comfy... I'd like to try one in paracord maybe even multi colors.. what type of epoxy did you use?? congrats on the sander, that will cut time in half or better.. Aldo's a stand up guy my last batch I made a mistake, he made the change and ate $6 and refused to let me pay him.. I'll have to make it up on the next go around.. regardless what he says:p
