Looking to buy a new folder with a blade around 3 inches and a price of $30 to $50. I have never owned a Spyderco and have been looking at the Tenacious, Persistence, Ambitious and Delica 4. What is your opinion, other options would be appreciated also, just looking at these because I have never had a Spyderco. I will be using it for EDC, typical home and work type stuff. Thanks for the input.

Well, you can't go wrong with a Delica, its one of the most versatile designs around.

Also take a look at Kershaw, they have some great knives in that price range too, like the leek for example.

Delica 4... But beware, Spyderco's are very addictive. One Spydie can turn into twenty or thirty before you know it. :D

I really like my Kershaw Skyline. I also think the Buck Vantage models are fantastic value.

of the spydercos, the delica is worth the extra money. the steel is miles better than the tenacious steel. But i'd also consider as well the kershaw skyline and the Ka Bar Dozier folder.

I'd agree that the Delica is really nice in that price range. Any Spyderco in VG-10 is recommended, as well as any Kershaw in 14C28N, like the OD-1 or the Skyline.

The Leek is nice, and I love mine, but the tip is really delicate. This can be a plus or a minus depending on how you intend to use it.

The steel isn't as good as the above, but the Cold Steel AK-47 knives are quite good if you need a really tough knife that isn't very heavy.

If you need a sharp edge that will stay sharp for a long time and handle fairly rough work for a knife (still knife-type work though, no prying or whatnot, of course) the Kershaw Needs Work is great.

It's a bit cheaper than your price range, but the Svord Peasant is a great knife for EDC tasks, and is very sheeple-friendly if that matters to you. Also it is a cool knife to have, and is just fun to use. It has a carbon steel blade, so some Fluid Film or Sheath might be in order to protect it from rust. The carbon steel blade makes it an excellent general utility knife too, of course.

The Victorinox Farmer in Alox is a very nice piece in the $32 range or so.

The Ontario Rat-1 is a modern classic.

The Buck Vantage Avid series is a great blend of value and cutting ability.

I love my SOG Flash II for EDC. The lockup is a tad loose, but it is an excellent knife otherwise.

Go Spyderco. They're not pretty but darn good knives for the price. Tenacious can be had for around $30. Tough to beat.

Kerwhaw Skyline, Spyderco Delica 4, Spyderco Native's, Buck Vantage is great, you might still find small or large Vantage pro's for around $50 if you're lucky.

Kershaw Chill is a great little knife. Can't beat a Kershaw Skyline either. Or a no frills CRKT Drifter.

Check out Sanrenmu and Navy knives from China too. You could pick up a few for $50 and they offer tons of models.
